My Contract Husband Won't Behave - Chapter 54
Old Master Bo—and the Bo family’s second great-uncle.
Nie Jingzhi’s hand stopped on the door.
“Are the contracts prepared?” Old Master Bo asked coldly.
“Yes,” the second great-uncle replied. “That overseas furniture-trading company appears to handle legitimate imports and exports, but secretly smuggles contraband. Once Little Jiu signs today’s partnership, if anything happens to this shipment, every crime and every bit of blame will fall on him alone.”
Nie Jingzhi’s breathing grew heavy. The words *smuggles contraband* and *make Bo Jiusi take the fall* made the conspiracy brutally clear.
She immediately began recording.
Old Master Bo sneered. “I didn’t give him control of the Asia-Pacific region so he could enjoy an easy life. If this deal succeeds, Bo Group’s market value doubles this year and the Bo family takes every benefit. But if one detail goes wrong, Bo Jiusi bears all the blame and every responsibility.”
“What if Little Jiu notices something midway?” the other man asked uneasily.
“What can he do? His signature will be in black and white. He personally finalized the contract. When the matter rises through every level, people will recognize only the signer. Who will believe his excuses?”
Each vicious, calculated word chilled Nie Jingzhi’s blood and made her scalp prickle.
The Asia-Pacific seat everyone fought for had never been a reward. It was a trap built for Bo Jiusi. They wanted his identity and power to shield the entire family from guilt, leaving him as a disposable scapegoat.
Shocked, she stepped back—and struck the metal storage rack behind her.
A faint clink sounded.
The conversation stopped.
“Who’s outside?” the second great-uncle demanded.
Discovered!
Her heart raced. She hid the phone and fled. Barely a second after she escaped the office, the man came out and searched the empty room suspiciously.
In the hall, he encountered Bo Jiusi’s executive assistant. “Did anyone enter Little Jiu’s office?”
The assistant, personally promoted by Bo Jiusi, lowered his eyes without changing expression. “No one has been here.”
After studying him and finding no flaw, the man returned to the suite.
Inside the descending elevator, Nie Jingzhi was already panicking. Her trembling fingers called Bo Jiusi repeatedly.
No service.
She called Feng Wu. The same.
They had to be on a plane.
The instant the elevator opened, she rushed to reception. “Where is Bo Jiusi? When did he leave? Where did he go?”
Recognizing Madam Bo, the receptionist answered immediately. “Mr. Bo left two hours ago. He booked this morning’s flight to Linhai. At this time… he should be aboard.”
Her heart dropped.
He was flying there to sign the contract. Those ruthless members of the Bo family were truly planning to sacrifice him.
Furious, Nie Jingzhi ran outside and entered Jin Song’s waiting BMW.
“What happened?” Jin Song asked.
“No time. Take me to the airport immediately. As fast as possible.”
She had to stop Bo Jiusi before he signed.
***
At Shenglin International Trading Group in Linhai, bright lights illuminated a long conference table lined by both negotiating teams.
Bo Jiusi sat at the head in black, cold and commanding.
Across from him, Shenglin’s general manager offered the contract with both hands and an eager smile. “Please review it, Mr. Bo. If everything is acceptable, sign.”
Bo Jiusi lowered his gaze, lifted a pen, and touched the tip to paper.
Bang!
The door flew open.
“You can’t sign that!”
At the familiar voice, his pen stopped. He raised his head sharply.
Nie Jingzhi stood in the doorway, panting, sweat on her brow.
“Thank goodness. I made it.”
Everyone stared. Feng Wu reacted first. “Madam? Why are you here?”
She did not answer. Marching to Bo Jiusi, she snatched the contract, tore it into pieces, and threw them down.
“Bo Jiusi, you cannot sign this.”
His gaze deepened as he silently watched her.
The general manager stood angrily. “Who are you? Who let her inside? Security—remove her!”
“I’d like to see anyone touch her,” Bo Jiusi said coldly.
No one moved.
“What is the meaning of this, Mr. Bo?”
Nie Jingzhi turned with a sneer. “Does your furniture factory produce furniture—or something else? Shall I explain for you?”
His face shifted. “What nonsense?”
She played the recording. Old Master Bo and the second great-uncle’s voices filled the room.
Deathly silence followed.
The manager paled, then recovered. “One recording proves nothing. Our furniture is legal and has passed customs inspection.”
“Legal? Are your sofas filled with foam or something else? Shall I cut them open?”
She took scissors from a corner and entered the display area where several sofas stood.
“Stop her!” the manager cried.
Security rushed forward. At one look from Bo Jiusi, Feng Wu’s people blocked them.
Nie Jingzhi sliced the leather of the first sofa.
Ordinary foam.
She cut the second.
Foam again.
The manager sneered. “Finished making trouble?”
“She’s my wife,” Bo Jiusi said. “Why get so worked up just because my wife cut up a few sofas?”
Sweat appeared on the man’s forehead. “But they’re perfectly good—”
“I’ll compensate you.”
Nie Jingzhi approached the third. It was heavier, with finer leather. Without hesitation, she drove in the scissors.
Inside were layers of clear plastic bags filled with white powder.
Gasps swept the room.
Bo Jiusi’s gaze darkened upon the package, and a terrifying pressure settled around him.
The general manager’s face went bloodless. His lips trembled without sound.
Nie Jingzhi dropped the scissors and turned to Bo Jiusi, eyes red. “I wasn’t too late, was I?”
His throat moved. He rose, came to her, caught her wrist, and drew her behind him.
“Feng Wu. Call the police.”
