My Contract Husband Won't Behave - Chapter 55
The Shenglin general manager continued protesting his innocence as police led him away.
Nie Jingzhi had barely relaxed when she swayed and began to fall. Two hands caught her securely from behind.
She looked blankly at Bo Jiusi. He frowned at her red eyes, pale cheeks, and cold sweat.
“Unwell?”
“I’m fine. I was too anxious. I’m dizzy.” Her nerves had been stretched tight throughout the journey; once they loosened, her body naturally weakened.
His face darkened. “What were you anxious for? Did you forget you’re pregnant?”
“Don’t scold me. I called the moment I learned the company had a problem. Your phone didn’t connect. I was afraid you’d sign, fall into the trap, and have no way back, so I didn’t think—ah!”
Before she finished, he bent and lifted her into his arms.
“Next time you worry about me, arrange your own safety first.”
Her ears heated. She was about to demand release.
“Don’t talk. Save your strength.”
She caught the fleeting tension in his eyes. Something shifted in her heart, and she let him carry her outside without further bravado.
Feng Wu stayed to manage the aftermath. Bo Jiusi placed her in the car and ordered the driver to head to the hospital.
“Why?” she asked from his arms.
“An examination, so I can stop worrying.” His tone allowed no objection.
“I’m already much better. I’d rather go to the hotel.” She stroked his hard jaw and coaxed softly, “Take me to your room. I want to lie down and sleep.”
His Adam’s apple moved. Catching her fingers, he warned, “You had better intend only to sleep.”
Then he ordered the driver to turn toward the hotel.

Clothes lay scattered across the presidential suite.
On the white bed, Nie Jingzhi lay beside him with black hair spread over his pillow, intimate and seductive.
“I meant to bring you a loving lunch to nourish your kidneys and boost your stamina.” She sighed at the ceiling. “Now look. I had to help you again.”
After the day’s turmoil, she wanted only to relax.
“I don’t need nourishing.” Bo Jiusi’s large hand held her soft waist, his voice rough. “Your waist is still this narrow. Nourish yourself.”
“All the weight goes to the baby.” She stroked her belly and narrowed her eyes contentedly. “Does that mean you’re satisfied with the rest of me?”
He looked away. “I felt nothing.”
She scoffed. “You seemed to feel plenty just now.”
Annoyed, he silenced her with his mouth.
Half an hour later, she grinned wickedly. “Satisfied, Master Jiu?”
Flat on his back, Bo Jiusi stared at the ceiling, throat working.
His hoarse warning carried no force. “Do that again… and get out.”
She draped one leg over his and propped her chin on her hand. “You always know I’m deliberately teasing you. Why indulge me every time and let me win?”
“I dislike owing favors.”
His gaze remained unfocused and his breathing disordered, yet the words were freezing.
Her face sank. “So I risked everything to stop that contract, and in your eyes it earns only one indulgence? An equal exchange?”
“What else do you want?”
She stared into his eyes. “Will you give me anything I want?”
His throat moved. “Anything except love.”
“How generous.” Bitterness showed beneath her sneer. “Your life too?”
His eyes cleared completely and opened in surprise.
Nie Jingzhi laughed coldly, threw off his hand, and rose. Before her feet reached the floor, he pulled her back onto his chest.
She struggled angrily. He captured both wrists and locked her in his arms.
“Where did the recording come from?”
“You already guessed.”
“I did. I’m asking to remind you: did you leave something in my office?”
She froze. “What?”
After thinking, she sat bolt upright. “The insulated lunch box! Old Master Bo and the second great-uncle must know it was me. I need somewhere to hide—”
“My assistant removed it. They didn’t discover you.”
She went rigid, then exhaled. Realizing, she punched him. “You frightened me deliberately? Pregnant women can’t take shocks!”
He hummed. “A lesson. Don’t be careless again.”
His lazy composure reminded her how unsurprised he had seemed when she invaded the meeting.
“Did you know I was coming?”
“By the time Jin Song reached me, you were already on the plane.”
Only after Nie Jingzhi boarded had Jin Song realized she should have accompanied her. Watching the plane depart, she contacted Bo Chenyi and finally reached Bo Jiusi, hoping to redeem herself.
Nie Jingzhi sighed. Her little Jin Song truly was good to her.
Bo Jiusi drew her waist close again. “Why did you come?”
Without thinking, she answered, “I was worried about you.”
His heart seemed to stop. He looked at her.
She coughed awkwardly. “If you were arrested, my child’s father would be a smuggler.”
He watched her for a long time before looking away. “No one in this world cares whether I live. You needn’t either. If matters reached that point, I would arrange somewhere for you beforehand.”
The words hurt.
“I care.”
He paused, then laughed softly.
The laugh upset her. “Do you think I’m coaxing you? I’m serious. I like you. Very much. Why won’t you believe me?”
Her face reddened more with every word.
Bo Jiusi watched her anger. This woman lied and schemed, but she had crossed a thousand miles for him. He had no reason not to believe this.
He tugged her. “Lie down.”
“Why?” She angrily shook him off. “Are you going to lick me?”
“…”
“If you don’t rest, you’ll have panda eyes.”
She lay down immediately. Nothing could be allowed to make her ugly.
“I’ll wake you for dinner in one hour.” He checked his phone.
“What the hell can I sleep in an hour?”
He frowned and looked from the screen to her. “Watch your language. Are you sleeping or not?”
“Sleep with me.”
He glanced at her. “Close your mouth and your eyes, and I will.”
