Chapter 1: I Slept with My Roommate’s Fiancée!
Qin Dong woke in a daze. The moment he opened his eyes, he found a woman lying beside him.
The covers had slipped to her waist, revealing pale skin and a delicate, beautiful face. One long leg lay outside the blanket.
His eyes widened. He nearly tumbled out of bed.
Ye Junyao!
Holy crap. He’d slept with the fiancée of his college roommate—the rich kid!
He was dead.
Only yesterday afternoon, Zhao Kuo had cornered him in their dorm room and tossed two thousand yuan onto his bed.
“Dong, do me a favor. Go on a blind date for me.”
Qin Dong had stared at him. “What? You want me to take your place?”
Zhao Kuo lit a cigarette and blew out a smoke ring, looking thoroughly fed up.
“Don’t ask. My family’s forcing me to meet this woman. Apparently our grandfathers arranged a marriage for us when we were kids.”
“I saw her back then. Short, fat, and ugly. I wouldn’t take another look at that she-dinosaur if you paid me.”
“But if I don’t go, my family will cut off my credit card.”
“So just show up for me, have a meal, and send her on her way.”
Zhao Kuo was a big name at Nanjiang University, the heir to a seriously wealthy family. He threw his weight around campus, and nobody dared cross him.
Qin Dong certainly couldn’t afford to offend him. The two thousand yuan helped, too, so he agreed.
His plan had been simple: meet the woman at the restaurant, get through the date, and leave.
But when he saw her, he was stunned. The short, fat, ugly she-dinosaur Zhao Kuo had described was a breathtaking beauty.
And worse still, how had a blind date on his roommate’s behalf ended with him in a hotel bed?
Clothes lay scattered across the floor. A dark red stain on the sheet made his scalp prickle.
“If Zhao Kuo finds out, he’ll have someone kill me!”
Qin Dong hurried out of bed and quietly gathered his clothes. He had just finished dressing when an icy voice came from behind him.
“You sleep with me and think you can just pull on your pants and leave, Qin Dong?”
Ye Junyao was awake. Half covered by the blanket, she stared at him coldly.
His face changed. “Y-you know my name?”
She gave a cold laugh and picked up a little card from the nightstand. “You dropped your student ID on the bed.”
Qin Dong had no answer to that. He braced himself and asked, “So what are you going to do with me?”
She paused, surprise flickering in her eyes. “You’re not even going to explain why you pretended to be Zhao Kuo?”
He gave a helpless smile. “We’ve already slept together. What good would an explanation do? Do whatever you want with me.”
Ye Junyao looked him up and down, apparently a little surprised by his honesty. Then she snorted and tossed the ID into his arms.
“You can get out. Last night never happened, and you’ll keep your mouth shut. Don’t tell anyone!”
Qin Dong didn’t dare argue. He hurried out of the hotel room.
As soon as the door closed, the cold, commanding look faded from Ye Junyao’s face. A self-mocking smile touched her lips.
“I never thought I’d lose my virginity in such a ridiculous way, just before I die…”
She was about to get up and shower when her expression suddenly changed.
Some of the Mystic Yin cold poison that had tormented her for more than twenty years was gone.
She had been frail and sickly since childhood. Every night, the pain in her bones was as unbearable as if she had fallen into an ice pit. Her family had sought out renowned doctors at home and abroad, but none could help her.
Then a wandering Taoist priest had taken one look at her and declared that she possessed a Mystic Yin Physique. She was destined to die before her twenty-fifth birthday, he said.
There was only one way to change her fate: find a man with a Sacred Dragon Physique and practice dual cultivation with him.
Ye Junyao had thought the whole thing absurd and dismissed it. Even if it were true, she would never stoop to trading her chastity and happiness for her life.
With less than a month left before her twenty-fifth birthday, she had even made her final arrangements, ready to face death in peace.
But now she checked again and again. A significant amount of the cold poison really had been dispelled.
Stunned, she thought of Qin Dong.
“Could he have a Sacred Dragon Physique?”
She drew a deep breath, took her phone from her bag, and dialed a number.
“I need you to look into someone. His name is Qin Dong. He’s a student at Nanjiang University. I want everything you can find on him…”
A deeply respectful voice answered, “Yes, Ms. Ye!”
…
Half an hour later, Qin Dong arrived at the apartment building near campus. He had rented the one-bedroom place so he could live with his girlfriend, Xu Lei.
Thinking about the absurd events of the night before, he felt guilty. He had only gone on a blind date in his roommate’s place. How had he ended up in bed with someone else?
What a mess.
Still, he couldn’t help picturing Ye Junyao’s alluring figure.
“Damn, she was gorgeous.”
“Compared with her, Zhao Kuo’s girlfriends are nothing special.”
When he reached the apartment, he found the door slightly ajar.
Then he heard breathless sounds through the gap.
His mind went blank. He knew that voice all too well. It belonged to Xu Lei, his innocent girlfriend of a year, who barely even let him hold her hand.
His eyes blazing, Qin Dong kicked the door open.
Xu Lei screamed and hastily grabbed some clothes to cover herself.
“Q-Qin Dong? Why are you back so early?”
“Let me explain. It’s not what you think…”
“Shut up, you bitch!” he snarled. “I heard everything you two said outside the door!”
Before Xu Lei could speak, Qin Dong turned a cold gaze on Zhao Kuo, who was taking his time pulling on his pants.
“Zhao Kuo, I’ve never done anything to you. Why would you do this to me?”
Zhao Kuo fastened his belt and regarded him with a mocking smile.
“Why? Because I was bored.”
“Watching a broke loser like you work himself to the bone for a few dozen yuan, while treating a woman I was done with like a treasure—that’s entertainment.”
“That’s how rich people have fun. What would a bottom-feeding ant like you know about it?”
With everything out in the open, Xu Lei dropped the act.
“Qin Dong, since you already know, I won’t pretend anymore. If Young Master Zhao hadn’t told me to act like your girlfriend, I’d have felt dirty even looking at you!”
Zhao Kuo put an arm around her and smiled. “Didn’t you go on that blind date with the woman for me yesterday? Why’d you only just get back? Don’t tell me you spent the night with that ugly woman.”
The sight of their shameless faces made Qin Dong so angry he laughed.
“Fine. Fine!”
“Thanks for the lesson, you two shameless dogs!”
“Now get out!”
The insult wiped the smile from Zhao Kuo’s face.
“Who the fuck are you calling a dog?”
“I’ll kill you!”
He swung a fist at Qin Dong’s face. Alarmed, Qin Dong instinctively stumbled back several steps.
Zhao Kuo’s wealthy family had paid for private sanda instructors since he was a child. A poor student who lived on instant noodles couldn’t begin to match him physically.
Just then, a searing pain flared in Qin Dong’s eyes.
When he opened them again, he saw something unbelievable.
