Don’t Run, Little Fox - Chapter 2
As I sat there feeling miserable, a little dress suddenly appeared in front of me.
“It’s Tuesday. You wear this one on Tuesdays, right?”
A freshly ironed coffee-colored dress was placed beside the bed.
Jiang Lian was already dressed.
Even an ordinary white shirt and brown pants looked several times better on him than they would on anyone else.
His expression was slightly unnatural.
“I’ll wait in the living room. Get ready, and we’ll go to class together.”
When I moved in, I’d brought a whole pile of my favorite dresses with me and taken over more than half of Jiang Lian’s closet.
I liked wearing a fixed color on each day of the week.
And Jiang Lian actually remembered.
My heart stirred.
Then another string of comments suddenly appeared.
*[The male and female leads are finally about to meet! It happens at the cake shop outside campus. They accidentally bump into each other, and that’s when the male lead realizes he doesn’t reject the female lead’s touch at all.]*
*[Yes yes yes! The female lead just smiles at him and he falls in love at first sight. So sweet!]*
*[Our female lead looks adorably airheaded, but she’s actually an incredibly powerful demon hunter. She’ll see straight through the side character and knock her back into her true form!]*
*[Celebration time! Is that stinky fox spirit finally leaving the story?!]*
My face went white.
I abruptly burrowed under the covers and said in a muffled voice,
“I don’t want to go. You go by yourself. Please tell the professor I’m taking the day off.”
Jiang Lian stared down at me for a long moment, his brows drawing together slightly.
“Su Su, what’s wrong with you? Ever since last night…”
“I just don’t want to go to class with you.”
I cut him off.
Silence fell above me.
A moment later, he spoke again.
“What do you want for lunch? I’ll bring something back after class.”
I want to eat you.
But you won’t let me.
“Anything,” I said listlessly.
Jiang Lian left.
The apartment fell silent.
My thoughts were a mess.
Since ancient times, demons who lost their heads over love had never met good ends.
Even Lady White Snake was still imprisoned beneath Leifeng Pagoda.
And I was only a little fox spirit.
Maybe I should give up.
Jiang Lian wasn’t the only human in the world whose yang energy I could absorb.
The comments continued reporting events in real time.
*[AHHH class is almost over! The historic meeting of the male and female leads is about to happen!]*
*[When the female lead nearly falls, the male lead throws the little cake he bought her straight onto the ground without hesitation just to catch her.]*
*[Anyone with eyes can tell who matters more to him!]*
My chest felt sour.
I didn’t want to know about their sweet little interactions.
But after tossing and turning on the bed over and over, I finally couldn’t stand it anymore.
I changed into something inconspicuous and went to my favorite cake shop by the school gate.
I would only look from a distance.
Surely no one would notice me.
Wearing a hat, I sat in a corner of the shop.
Sure enough, Jiang Lian arrived.
The moment he entered, he drew the attention of countless girls.
He didn’t notice at all.
He simply stood there expressionlessly, looking down at his phone.
The next second, my phone buzzed.
The contact name read:
Big Chest, Pure Yang Energy
*[Class is over. I happened to stop by your favorite cake shop. What flavor do you want today?]*
The notification startled me.
I hurriedly silenced my phone.
Big Chest, Pure Yang Energy:
*[Do you want strawberry?]*
*[Mango?]*
*[Or Oreo?]*
I was just about to reply when comments floated past.
*[With a thunderous boom from the heavens, the female lead makes her dazzling entrance!]*
*[Our girl looks gorgeous today too! And she happens to be wearing the same color palette as the male lead—a white shirt with a brown pleated skirt. They look so perfect together!]*
I hurriedly looked toward the entrance.
A flash of amazement crossed my eyes.
She was beautiful.
At the same time, an ache welled up inside me.
Just like the comments said.
They really did look good together.
