Don’t Run, Little Fox - Chapter 3
After waiting and still not receiving a reply, Jiang Lian’s eyes dimmed slightly.
So he bought every flavor I liked.
Just as he was leaving, he accidentally bumped into a girl.
The cakes slipped from his hands and fell.
A clear female voice sounded.
“I’m sorry. I knocked your cakes down. Let me pay for them.”
Jiang Lian pressed his lips together.
“It’s fine.”
He bent down to pick them up.
The girl crouched down to help.
More comments appeared.
*[AHHH their fingertips touched! So intimate!]*
*[See? Jiang Lian doesn’t reject Wen Shi touching him at all.]*
*[Love really can cure germaphobia!]*
From where I was sitting, I could see everything perfectly.
Unlike the intense reaction Jiang Lian always had whenever I touched him, when Wen Shi touched him just now, he didn’t dodge at all.
Then Wen Shi leaned in close to his ear with a smile and seemed to whisper something.
Jiang Lian’s gaze flickered.
He even pulled out his phone.
The comments kept coming.
*[Awww, the two of them exchanged contact info! And this is only their first meeting!]*
*[They’re whispering to each other from so close! What are they saying that we’re not allowed to hear?]*
*[This is what a canon couple looks like. So sweet! You can’t appreciate it without comparison. Remember how the side character shamelessly pestered the male lead and had to ask for his WeChat three times before he gave it to her?]*
I tightened my grip on my phone.
I didn’t want to torture myself anymore.
Pulling my hat lower, I got ready to leave.
Someone suddenly sat down beside me.
A teasing voice spoke beside my ear.
“Caught myself a little fox.”
I whipped my head around.
He was a very handsome human.
His yang energy was strong.
But he was dangerous.
Comments drifted past.
*[Ohhh, the side character just got discovered by the female lead’s cousin!]*
*[This fox spirit really doesn’t know when to quit. She already knows the female lead comes from a demon-hunting family, and she still dared to follow the male lead here. Well, now a demon hunter caught her.]*
*[Cousin, I believe in you! Hurry up and knock her back into her true form!]*
A demon hunter?
My whole body jolted.
I nearly got so frightened that my ears popped out.
The handsome man in front of me curved his peach-blossom eyes.
“Don’t be scared. I’m not going to catch you. It’s just been a long time since I’ve seen such an adorable little fox.”
Then he leaned closer.
His breath brushed my ear.
“My name is Wen Yan. If you need yang energy, I’ve got plenty. My number is 168xxxxx. I know you foxes have excellent memories, so give me a call sometime~”
Too close.
I shifted uncomfortably.
The comments froze.
*[Wait. What? Is the side character seriously this good? She seduced the female lead’s cousin already?!]*
*[I’m dying. Why does a demon hunter meet a fox spirit and immediately start showing off like a peacock?]*
I was just as bewildered.
After saying that, Wen Yan finally leaned away.
He casually settled back in his chair.
“By the way, do you know that guy over there? Because he’s looking at us like he wants to murder someone~”
Only then did I turn my head.
Jiang Lian stood there holding a fresh bag of cakes.
His dark eyes were fixed heavily on us.
On the subway home, Jiang Lian looked down at me.
His tone was stiff.
“Was that guy your friend?”
I was still angry.
“None of your business.”
Jiang Lian’s dark eyes shifted.
When he spoke again, his voice had softened.
“If you wanted cake, why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve brought it home for you.”
I grumbled silently.
Who came for cake?
If those comments hadn’t said you were going to meet the female lead, I never would’ve come.
Thinking about how he’d exchanged contact information with Wen Shi made that sour feeling rise in my chest again.
I really shouldn’t have gone.
The subway suddenly braked sharply.
I lost my balance and fell sideways.
Jiang Lian wrapped an arm around my waist.
Our bodies pressed tightly together.
And my face landed right in that familiar, full, firm place.
I swallowed.
Then shamelessly snuck a few little breaths of yang energy.
The comments exploded.
*[Why is the male lead hugging the side character on his own?! Did that fox spirit enchant him or something?]*
*[I mean, the side character is annoying, but don’t you guys think she’s genuinely gorgeous?]*
*[She’s still not as pretty as our girl, okay? That bright, elegant beauty is on a whole different level from some foxy little seductress.]*
*[Exactly! If she hadn’t shamelessly followed him here today, the male and female leads would already have progressed to the next stage. Fox spirit, hurry up and leave the story!]*
The big chest instantly lost its appeal.
I tried to push Jiang Lian away.
But I couldn’t.
He held me tightly.
“Su Su, you’re angry, aren’t you?”
I gave him a stiff smile.
“Heh. Of course not.”
The comments were right.
Jiang Lian had always hated physical contact with me.
All this time, I’d been the one shamelessly clinging to him.
Maybe I really should give up.
Let him be with the female lead.
The subway started moving again, smoothly this time.
Yet Jiang Lian continued holding me tightly.
He never let go.
