Don’t Run, Little Fox - Chapter 1
I’m a fox spirit.
Every day, I cling to the aloof campus heartthrob for cuddles so I can absorb his yang energy.
Today, just as I buried my face against his big, soft chest and rubbed against him, floating comments suddenly appeared before my eyes:
*[That fox-spirit side character has zero shame. She knows the male lead is too softhearted to turn her down, so she just keeps pushing her luck.]*
*[The male lead is a germaphobe and basically a total prude. He hates physical contact with the side character more than anything. When is she going to realize the only person who can cure his germaphobia is the female lead?!]*
*[Hang in there a little longer! The female lead is about to appear. Her family has been demon hunters for generations, so she’ll see right through that fox spirit. Then the male lead can skin the fox and make the female lead a fur coat~]*
My face went pale.
My skin suddenly felt chilly.
Above me, Jiang Lian’s voice was low and hoarse, as if he were desperately holding something back.
“Su Su, do you really have to press this close to me while I’m explaining a problem?”
I immediately sprang out of his arms and shook my head furiously.
“N-No. Not necessarily.”
Jiang Lian gave me a surprised look, then continued explaining the problem.
His warm, pleasant voice filled the room.
But I couldn’t focus on a single word.
Instead, I studied him uneasily.
Jiang Lian’s ears were very red, and at some point, a faint flush had crept over his cool, handsome face.
He was probably disgusted by me.
Before this, I’d been so busy pressing against him to absorb yang energy that I’d never paid attention to his reactions…
Jiang Lian’s calm voice interrupted my thoughts.
“Stop looking at me. Look at the problem.”
Then he picked up a pillow from beside him and placed it over his lap where he sat cross-legged.
The comments rolled past again.
*[Ohhh, the male lead is starting to hate even the way the side character looks at him.]*
*[Who would enjoy being stared at every day with that thirsty look? She’s still staring! Can’t she have even a little self-awareness?]*
*[It’s more than that. He deliberately put a pillow in his lap so she can’t throw herself at him again.]*
I lowered my head.
The fox ears invisible to humans drooped too.
So Jiang Lian really hated me that much.
No wonder his whole body always went stiff whenever I touched him.
I’d thought he was embarrassed.
Turns out he was repulsed.
My nose stung.
“Jiang Lian, you don’t have to tutor me anymore. Let’s stop here for today.”
He froze.
His brows drew together slightly as he stared at me, looking as though he wanted to say something.
In the end, all he said was,
“Okay. Then let’s sleep. I’m going to take a shower.”
With that, he got up and went into the bathroom.
More comments drifted past.
*[The male lead really is so chaste. Every time the side character touches him, he has to scrub himself clean before bed.]*
*[Obviously. If someone with zero sense of boundaries kept groping and rubbing against me like that, I’d feel too grossed out to sleep without showering too.]*
My eyes burned.
No wonder Jiang Lian always showered twice.
Even if he’d already showered earlier, after I hugged and rubbed against him at night, he would go wash again.
As usual, Jiang Lian stayed in the bathroom for a long time.
When he finally returned to bed, he carried the cool dampness of water with him.
“Good night.”
For the first time, I turned my back on him without answering.
Feeling wronged, I curled myself into a tiny ball at the edge of the bed.
No matter how rich the yang energy radiating from Jiang Lian’s side was, I didn’t dare crawl into his arms again.
The next morning, hunger woke me up.
When I turned over, Jiang Lian’s handsome sleeping face came into view.
At some point, the buttons on his pajama top had come undone, exposing his pale, soft chest.
I swallowed.
My eyes practically went red with craving.
I knew he hated me.
And yet I still shamelessly wrapped myself around him.
So soft.
So springy.
The rich yang energy flooding into me made my head spin pleasantly, and with it came courage.
Without realizing it, I started reaching toward the place where his yang energy was strongest.
A hand suddenly closed around my wrist.
I had no idea when Jiang Lian had woken up.
His breath burned against my ear, his hoarse voice carrying a warning.
“Su Su. No.”
Before I could react, he wrapped me tightly in the comforter like a burrito.
Then he got out of bed and fled into the bathroom.
It felt as though someone had dumped a bucket of cold water over my head.
The comments were still insulting me.
*[The side character starts causing trouble first thing in the morning. She seriously has no shame.]*
*[It’s fine. She’s tried seducing him so many times. Has the male lead ever responded?]*
*[The male lead’s first time is reserved for the female lead. Look, the second that side character touches him, he runs to the bathroom to wash himself clean again.]*
My chest felt even tighter.
I’d learned quite a few tricks for seducing humans from older fox spirits.
They all said that with a little fox as pretty as me, no human should be able to resist.
But Jiang Lian could.
I couldn’t have him, which meant I only got hungrier and hungrier.
Even my beautiful fox tail had started shedding from hunger.
It wasn’t that I’d never considered finding someone else.
It was just…
I liked Jiang Lian too much.
After disguising myself as a human and getting into college, I met plenty of male students.
Their yang energy was either too weak or too muddy.
Only Jiang Lian had yang energy this abundant.
And this pure.
Plus, he was handsome.
The first time I saw him, my nonexistent fox tail practically wagged itself off.
Unfortunately, Jiang Lian was famously cold and distant.
It had taken forever for me to pitifully tell him my family had kicked me out and that I had nowhere to stay, until he finally let me move into his place.
I’d thought I had a chance.
But apparently, he hated me this much.
