Disguised as a Man, She Has Eight Men Fighting Over Her - Chapter 54
Chapter 54
Shen Qingrang’s pleasant pine scent enveloped her. Light gilded his outline from behind; she could see his lashes behind his glasses and the beauty mark beneath his right eye. One small dip of his head could touch her lips.
Lin Cheng held her breath, heart accelerating.
“Brother Qingrang?”
He looked aside, reached past her, and pulled out the seat belt.
*Click.*
“You forgot your seat belt, Little Chen.” He withdrew as though it had been an ordinary reminder.
“Thank you.”
Her phone lit up.
**Xie Zhi:** Arrived and didn’t tell me?
She pressed her lips together without replying.
A moment later—
**Xie Zhi:** You haven’t replied for one minute. Did you marry someone else, baby?
The word *baby* heated her cheeks. She hastily typed: **Arrived.** Then silenced the phone and hid it in her pocket.
Shen Qingrang discreetly noticed her red ears and the movement. He turned the ring on his middle finger.
“Is the car hot, Little Chen?”
“A little,” she answered guiltily.
Even silenced, the intermittent glow from her pocket did not escape him. A vein rose faintly across the hand on the wheel.
After a brief silence, he asked casually, “How did you get along with Xie Zhi on set?”
Lin Cheng turned to the window, rubbing her thumb with one forefinger—her unconscious habit when nervous.
“F-fine.”
“Mm.” Shen Qingrang did not press. “Tomorrow afternoon’s event is for Wuli. Stay with me.”
“Wuli?” Her eyes widened.
The fast-rising domestic streetwear brand was wildly popular among young people, and Lin Chen was a devoted fan.
“A simple launch and fan meeting. Don’t worry. Remain beside me and interact briefly when needed.”
“Okay.”
They soon entered the hotel garage and took a private elevator to the top floor.
“Jinye booked the whole floor,” Shen Qingrang explained, letting her enter before returning to his room to change his damp shirt.
The living room was chaotic, its broad sofa buried in clothes supplied for tomorrow.
Shi Yu ran over with an oversized pink jacket.
“Little Chen, try this! I chose it for you.”
He pulled it over her and zipped it to the chin. It was the largest size; neither hand emerged. As she waved the empty sleeves, Shi Yu rubbed her exposed head like an adored cat, turning her hair into a nest.
“Little Chen, why didn’t you answer me?” He tied the long sleeves together. Then he leaned in, pouting sadly. “Why was I the only one without a reply? My heart is broken.”
Lin Cheng bent backward and hurriedly explained, “My grandmother got sick that day. I forgot!”
“Oh… I see…”
Shi Yu tugged the knotted sleeves, pulling her back.
“I knew Little Chen wouldn’t ignore me!” Dimples appeared around his pointed canine teeth.
For an instant, Lin Cheng imagined black-red horns on his forehead and a black tail swishing behind him.
Then the little devil whispered, “I got a new endorsement—sweet orange milk. I stole two cases just for you.”
“Only you.”
“They’re outside your room… back at the base.”
Fine. The horns became a halo, the black tail white wings.
He was an angel.
Shen Qingrang emerged just in time to see Shi Yu whispering at her ear. He paused.
“What are you discussing?”
Lin Cheng turned naturally. Shi Yu straightened with a grin and bounced back to his room.
“Nothing. Brother Qingrang, you look great.”
His sharp gaze swept the sleeve knotted across her chest and her messy hair. He untied her.
“Wuli favors oversized designs. I asked the brand to send one size smaller. It will arrive shortly.”
He tossed the pink jacket over the sofa.
“Where are Captain and the others?”
“Catching up on sleep. We rise early tomorrow.”
“Would you like to rest?”
Lin Cheng rubbed her eyes. “I’ll wait to try the clothes.”
As they discussed the schedule, her eyelids drooped and her voice blurred. Soon she fell asleep against the sofa cushions.
Shen Qingrang set down the itinerary and covered her with a fringed blanket.
The soft wool brushed her neck. She shrank sensitively and murmured.
In her dream, the hateful fox Xie Zhi embraced her from behind, chin in her shoulder, hot breath behind her ear.
“Baby…” His teeth rubbed her earlobe. “Miss me?”
Lin Cheng twisted away.
“Mmm… go away…”
The dream sensation spread from her ear down her neck, strangely intertwined with the fringe’s tickle.
Shen Qingrang turned at her broken whimper and approached to pull up the fallen blanket.
Lin Cheng suddenly turned. Her soft lips accidentally brushed the back of his hand.
The touch shocked through him. His hand froze.
Unaware, Lin Cheng smacked her lips, buried her face deeper, and mumbled:
“No… Xie Zhi… no kissing…”
