Chapter 10
Jian Yu kept working.
If you ignored the fact that he checked his phone every ten minutes on average.
It was long past quitting time, but Lin Dong hadn’t contacted him once.
The phone rang, and he immediately swiped to answer.
It was Song Qiao.
Despite the time difference abroad, she still wished him a happy birthday.
[You must be with Lin Dong now.]
Seeing that line, he scoffed.
It was only natural for her to think that, because indeed, Lin Dong had accompanied him every year on his birthday.
But not this year, because Lin Dong and that Omega had a damn date tonight.
He might as well work overtime here until his birthday was over, he thought.
The next second, he suddenly stood up and headed straight for the parking lot.
What a joke, what a joke, what a joke.
Some unknown Omega, on his birthday, was going on a date with Lin Dong?
Would they take it further?
Why? Why!
Jian Yu couldn’t help but think of the culprit who had put him in this predicament.
That woman…
It wasn’t his first time meeting Lin Dong’s sister.
In fact, they had quite a few business dealings.
A few months ago, after Song Qiao went abroad, he met her again.
The difference was, this time he wanted to discuss something private.
“You want my brother?”
Looking at her incredulous expression, Jian Yu picked up his cup and took a light sip.
“Yes, I want Lin Dong.”
The previously harmonious business discussion was broken. She tried to brush it off with a joke:
“Mr. Jian, you’re joking. Our family isn’t so poor that we need to sell our children…”
“Is that when it becomes acceptable?” Jian Yu interrupted. “You know, I don’t want to go that far.”
The woman stood up.
“He considers you a friend, you can’t treat him like that.
“He’ll fall in love, get married, have children in the future, not be a plaything you hold when you’re interested and discard when you’re tired. He has the right to choose.”
Jian Yu’s smile faded.
Lin Dong would fall in love, get married, have children.
With someone else?
What a joke.
If it were Song Qiao, he could suppress himself.
Song Qiao was good, so he would fund her. If she and Lin Dong were together, he would bless them.
But if it were someone else, it would be better to keep him in his grasp.
But…
“He’s not a plaything,” he still explained.
But the woman didn’t believe him at all:
“You’re a born control freak. Lin Dong is simple-minded, he can’t outsmart you.
“You’re coming to me now precisely because he doesn’t like you, aren’t you?
“Your brother and father were ruined by you, do you think everyone in the world is like that? Let me tell you, Lin Dong is my biological brother. No matter what, I’ll make sure he marries someone he truly loves.
“Jian Yu, don’t make him hate you.”
So, “Xiao Qin” appeared.
23 years old, Omega, from the Qin family.
Was the meaning not clear enough?
Younger than him, gentler and more obedient than him, and, well-matched in status. Lin Dong would never feel inferior because of his family background, both emotionally and practically, he wouldn’t suffer.
Now, Jian Yu opened the trunk, his fingertips brushing a pair of cold silver handcuffs.
He couldn’t take it anymore; he shouldn’t have endured for so long.
What “he will hate you”? He was actually fooled by such a flimsy reason.
Why should he endure? That’s right, he was going to catch Lin Dong right now…
A beam of light hit him, momentarily dazzling Jian Yu, but strangely, it also sobered him up a bit.
Lin Dong was not far away, having turned off his car lights, and he raised an eyebrow at Jian Yu:
“It’s so late. Will the boss get a bonus for leading by example and working overtime?”
