Three Years of Silent Chase - Chapter 12
It wasn’t just me who was stunned.
The livestream camera was blocked by Kingsley, but in his rush to catch me, he forgot to mute the mic.
So, while the two of us seemed perfectly safe in the escape room, in reality, our voices were already being broadcast to the whole world.
SeaSea was stunned, too.
[Si-Si? We are SeaSea, she’s Si-Si, this is the real, official sister-in-law!]
[His face was so long during the task just now, like a hippo, storming off to catch someone without even muting the mic. I thought it was going to be a forced kiss, ripped clothes, some harsh punishment, but Kingsley, this hopeless guy, just stormed off, didn’t say a word, and even helped her find an excuse!]
[Such a lovesick fool, just like my bestie’s deadbeat ex, I really can’t stand it.]
[I mean, is Si-Si really that good at acting? If not, come out, let me go act in King’s arms for a bit. My bestie said, before she dies, she just wants to see King being a lovesick fool for me!]
[Hahahaha, hilarious. King posts about being in love, someone tries to cling on, and now all those people who said our Bianca would never try to ride the hype are getting slapped in the face, huh? Eat shit, will you!]
It was all pretty obvious, but Sugar Cubes refused to accept it and insisted on arguing.
[What’s there to talk about? Clearly, your Kingsley is two-timing, such a scumbag!]
[And that Si-Si, who does she even think she is, putting herself on the same level as our Bianca? Our Bianca is the best!]
[Even if, for argument’s sake, Bianca did try to ride the hype, why do Si-Si and Kingsley have to date and then force Bianca to team up with Kingsley? Does she have to be part of their play? Our Bianca is a girl, does she really have to be humiliated like this? Absolutely disgusting!]
SeaSea wasn’t having it either.
[When you can’t win the argument, you pull the gender card, huh? Wasn’t it Bianca herself who “coincidentally” posted on Weibo back then? Wasn’t she a girl then?]
[Two lovesick fools, both willing participants–what’s it got to do with any of you? You just had to shove your way in and embarrass yourselves!]
My phone was buzzing like crazy in my pocket. I wanted to take it out and check, but Kingsley held my hand tight.
“I need to take a call.”
Kingsley looked at me, full of grievance: “Am I not as important as a phone call?”
How could that be the same?
I wanted to argue back, but then I saw the deep fear in his eyes.
Suddenly, my heart was in chaos.
“Kingsley, let’s talk this out!”
His brows twitched. He let go of me and turned to leave, but I grabbed him at once.
“Where are you going?”
He refused to turn around, so I leaned in to look–and saw his eyes were red, tears streaming down in big, messy drops.
“Kingsley? What’s wrong?”
He was crying like a little puppy, whimpering, asking me, “Do you want to play games with me again? Make me wait another three years?”
“Sienna! I’m not stupid, I know what you mean! ‘Talk it out’ just means you don’t want to chase me anymore, right?”
My heart felt hot and soft, but also like it was being pricked by a needle–aching.
I could never refuse Kingsley.
Just like how humans can never refuse a puppy that loves them with all its heart.
Leaving three years ago was already the harshest thing I’d ever done.
This time, I don’t want to give up anymore.
“No.”
The crying boy looked up at me, startled.
I sighed, leaned in, and kissed the corner of his lips.
“Kingsley, don’t you want to know why I left you three years ago?”
