I had already called the police.

When they broke down the door, the honeymoon suite was in a state of chaos. Jiang Huaning was huddled in a corner, her wedding dress torn to shreds, as the men tried to assault her.

She hadn’t been physically violated yet, but her mind had clearly snapped. When the police approached, she screamed, “Don’t come near me! Get away!”

The police efficiently handcuffed the thugs. One of them, a man with bleached hair, wet himself in fear.

“Officer! I’ll confess!” he stammered. “It was Mr. Lu! He paid us a hundred thousand each and told us to do whatever we wanted, as long as we didn’t kill her!” He even pulled out his phone. “I-I have a recording!”

The police then broke down the door to the adjacent room and arrested the just-awakening Lu Zichen. As he was being dragged out, his dazed eyes met mine, hidden in a corner down the hall.

“Jiang… Yongning…” he whispered, his lips trembling. Suddenly, he began to struggle violently. “It was her! She set me up!”

But no one listened to him.

Even as he was shoved into the police car, his hysterical screams echoed in the air.

“Impossible… I’m the male lead… How could this happen…”

The comments had also lost their minds:

Glass shattered. The stream of comments instantly dissolved into garbled text and vanished into thin air.

I turned and walked away, my figure disappearing down the end of the hall.
