The Villain Is a Chatterbox, and I'm Mute - chapter 12
Right before leaving the country, Qi Chen came to see me again.
“Which city are you planning to go to?” he asked.
“London,” I replied.
“That’s good.” Qi Chen tugged at the corner of his mouth. “How are things between you and Qin Xu?”
“Very good.”
An unnatural look flashed across his face. “I don’t mean anything else, just that you should think ahead for yourself. If Qin Xu ever changes his mind, what will you do abroad…?”
“Stop right there!” Qin Xu suddenly appeared from the corner.
“You damn homewrecker, are you trying to steal my wife? What do you mean, I might change my mind?”
Seeing Qin Xu’s fist about to land on Qi Chen’s face, I pulled him aside. “Wait here for me, husband.”
Qin Xu, holding his face and feeling dizzy, replied, “Okay, your husband will wait for you, wait for you.”
Qi Chen’s expression was complicated. “Everything’s different now.”
“What do you mean?”
“Have you ever thought that maybe our world is just a novel… Qin Xu is a Villain who does all sorts of evil, and you’re just an insignificant passerby.”
I was silent for a few seconds. “So? Are you saying you’re the Male Lead?”
“Yes,” Qi Chen nodded in acknowledgment.
“I’ve known since I was a child that I was the center of this world, that I would end up with Meng Lele, and Qin Xu would do everything he could to ruin our relationship.”
“But then Qin Xu met you, and everything changed.”
He smiled helplessly. “I regret it.”
“I should have taken you home when you were curled up in the hallway.”
“But you didn’t,” I interrupted him.
When I was ten, I was kicked out of my house.
It was a scorching day, forty degrees, and I was desperately thirsty.
Qi Chen passed by with a cup of water, and I looked at him like a puppy, eyes full of longing.
But he just glanced at me coldly, then locked the door behind him.
He had no obligation to help me, I don’t blame him.
But I won’t forgive him for what he did to me back then, either.
“I’m sorry.”
Qi Chen lowered his head. “Actually, I’ve liked you for a long time, but fate didn’t arrange for us to be together.”
“You damn homewrecker! I knew you were up to no good! Fate? Who are you confessing to? Trying to steal a married woman-shameless!”
Qin Xu exploded, kicking Qi Chen to the ground.
I held onto Qin Xu, gripping his hand tightly.
Qi Chen climbed up from the ground, face dark. “I was wrong. He hasn’t changed at all, still all brawn and no brains.”
“Who are you calling names?” Qin Xu shouted from behind me.
“Enough,” I soothed Qin Xu, then turned to look at Qi Chen.
“There’s no need to say any more.”
“Also,” I took out the Pouch with five hundred yuan from my pocket, “help me return this to her.”
Qi Chen took it in a daze. “Are you never going home again?”
“That was never my home.”
“Exactly, my wife and I are a family!”
