Chapter 11
Saturday, it was my friend’s wife’s birthday.
He repeatedly urged me to bring Lu Tong over.
His wife had gone through his phone and found something, causing quite a stir, even mentioning divorce.
He wanted Lu Tong to try and talk some sense into her.
Ever since Lu Tong and I entered into an open marriage, I’ve been living quite freely, and all my friends have seen it.
But in matters like these.
It depends on the relationship between the couple.
Take me, for example.
I’ve never thought about divorcing Lu Tong.
Nor have I considered taking away any of the convenience and wealth I’ve provided her.
I’ve given enough.
Lu Tong also relies on me enough.
If I had to say something.
I could only blame the current marriage system for being flawed, even against human nature.
Sticking with one person for a lifetime is simply impossible.
“Come on, don’t pretend.”
“Just get Lu Tong over here, that’s the real task, it’s urgent.”
My friend wouldn’t heed my advice as someone who’s been through it.
Even over the phone, I could already imagine him groveling before his wife.
As a man, it’s truly embarrassing.
I took the last drag of my cigarette and stubbed it out in the ashtray.
Called Lu Tong.
Lu Tong only had two classes scheduled on Saturday, finishing around three o’clock.
She didn’t answer, so I decided to drive directly to the yoga studio.
But when I arrived.
The yoga studio’s doors were closed, and not even the lights were on.
