Chapter 5
On a rainy day, I found a little orange kitten in the yard.
It was tiny and soaked from the rain, shivering in a small ball, its meows very weak.
I carried it under the eaves and fed it some goat’s milk.
It licked a few times and then stopped moving.
I think it might be dying…
I held it protectively in my arms, wanting to ask Mom and Dad for help.
As I turned around, I bumped right into my brother.
He raised an eyebrow. “What are you scurrying around for?”
I instinctively hid the kitten in my arms.
My brother was curious. “What are you holding?”
I shook my head and backed away.
My brother stepped closer.
“Meow~”
The kitten let out a faint cry.
My heart sank.
But my brother flinched and took a few steps back. “Where did that cat come from?”
The little kitten struggled to get down, so I had to put it on the ground.
It seemed very interested in my brother, and the fluffy little ball wobbled towards him. “Meow~”
My brother gasped, looking like he was facing a formidable enemy.
He haphazardly broke a branch off a nearby plant and held it in front of him like a weapon, his voice trembling. “G-go away…”
I just stared, dumbfounded.
The screen was filled with “hahaha.”
[Never would have thought! The brother usually acts like a cool snake king, but a tiny kitten has him weak in the knees. His reputation is in tatters.]
[I’ve never seen bloodline suppression this clearly before.]
[The little snake’s fear of the little tiger~]
[For the first time, there’s no fear of her brother in the supporting character’s eyes, only the dawning realization that this is how you handle him.]
The kitten seemed to really like my brother and rubbed its little head against his pant leg. “Meeow~”
My brother collapsed to the ground.
The bad news was that both Dad and my brother are afraid of cats, so we couldn’t keep it.
The good news was that someone responded to the adoption notice Mom posted online.
It was our neighbor. Her son wanted to adopt the kitten.
The boy was about eleven or twelve, with a fair complexion and glasses, looking like a very good student.
He took the kitten from my arms and shyly thanked me.
Then he started to leave with his mother.
I poked his arm and handed him a note.
[Thank you, brother. The kitten is very good. It can eat by itself and is afraid of making a mess, so it will even go outside to use the bathroom. Please take good care of it.]
The neighbor boy blushed as he read the note.
He was too embarrassed to look at me and said softly, “I will.”
As soon as the kitten was gone, my brother’s tense body immediately relaxed.
When he met my inquisitive gaze, he stiffly looked away and awkwardly rubbed his nose. “Hey, don’t you tell anyone about this.”
[It’s a secret~]
[Our little supporting character and her brother now share a special secret.]
