The Mute Villainess and Her Snake Prince - Chapter 10
The next day.
I was woken up early in the morning by the sound of laughter downstairs.
My eyes snapped open.
I almost forgot, today was the day Miao Miao was coming over.
I quickly ran downstairs.
Just in time to see Miao Miao performing a magic trick in the middle of the living room, making Mom and Dad roar with laughter.
Only my brother sat with his arms crossed, looking annoyed.
Seeing this, I slowed my steps.
I didn’t want to disturb them.
“Yan Yan’s awake! Come here,” Dad called out to me.
Miao Miao looked over at the sound of my name, a happy expression on her face.
She ran over and hugged me, nearly knocking me over. “Yan Yan, baby, I missed you so much!”
My brother cut in, “Hey, be gentle.”
Miao Miao ignored him and held me at arm’s length, looking me up and down before planting a kiss on my cheek. “You’ve gained weight! You’re even cuter!”
She asked expectantly, “So? Are you happy here? Did you miss me and the director?”
I nodded.
“Then you kiss me too.”
I blushed and gave her a peck on the cheek.
Miao Miao hugged me tightly. “Wah! Yan Yan, baby, you’re so cute!”
Mom and Dad gave us some time to catch up.
I took Miao Miao to see my room.
She flopped onto the big bed and happily rolled around a few times. “So comfy, so comfy!”
“D-do you like… this room?”
Miao Miao suddenly turned to look at me.
Her expression changed from confusion to shock, and then to delight. “Yan Yan, baby! You can talk?”
I nodded.
She hugged me and slowly sank to her knees. “Aww, that’s great. I can rest easy now. I was so worried you were being bullied because you couldn’t speak.”
I sat on the floor with her and put all the dolls from my bed in her arms.
At the orphanage, Miao Miao was always the one who protected me.
My nose tingled, and I said sincerely, “Th-thank you.”
“Don’t be silly, we’re best friends!”
Miao Miao happily hugged me and jumped around for a bit.
Suddenly,
her gaze shifted, and she noticed my stuffed little backpack. “Huh? Yan Yan, baby, why did you pack all your things? Are you leaving?”
Her expression changed. “Is someone bullying you?”
She paced back and forth, thinking. “It’s that grumpy brother, isn’t it? I accidentally broke one of his ceramic dolls today, and he got super mad. He must be the one who’s bullying you!”
I quickly shook my head. “N-no one is bullying me.”
Miao Miao was suspicious. “Really?”
I nodded. “They’re all… very nice to me.”
“Then why are you leaving?”
I didn’t answer her question. Seeing the scrape on her face, I asked with some concern, “Miao Miao, the couple who adopted you before… were they not nice to you?”
Miao Miao sat on the floor and pretended to be casual as she tugged at the corner of her shirt. “Nah, the lady who adopted me found out she was pregnant, so they sent me back.
“They said I was too loud and destructive, and they were worried it would affect the pregnancy.
“The scrape on my face has nothing to do with them. I fell while chasing a dog.”
…I see.
I thought for a moment and gathered my courage. “How about… I go talk to Mom and Dad and ask… ask them to adopt you!”
I said seriously, “They both really like you!”
But Miao Miao shook her head and puffed out her chest. “I’m happy as long as you’re doing well. A family from Australia wants to adopt me. They like that I’m talkative and lively! They think I’ll make their home more cheerful!”
I was stunned. “You want to go abroad?”
Miao Miao’s eyes shone brightly. “I heard they have koalas and kangaroos there. My new mom and dad said that if I’m willing to go home with them, they’ll give me a big ranch with all sorts of little animals!”
[Okay, okay, so the female lead gets a rich life no matter which path she chooses!]
[My dirt-poor dad with a net worth of over a hundred million, and my super-rich dad with a net worth of over ten billion. It’s such a tough choice.]
[So the original plot was that the supporting character was terrified by the male lead’s true form, and the female lead, to protect her, gave up her Australian adoptive parents and went into the lion’s den to get revenge for her?]
[I declare that the supporting character and the female lead have the best friendship in the world!]
[Then what about the brother? He’s going to be so mad he’ll twist himself into a Mobius strip snake.]
I took out my little notebook and wrote down my family’s address and contact information.
After a moment’s thought, I also wrote down Mom and Dad’s phone numbers for her. “If you ever want to come home, you have to call this number.
“We’ll come and pick you up!”
Miao Miao smiled, but her eyes slowly turned red.
She took the note solemnly. “Yan Yan, baby, when we grow up, we have to still be the very best of friends!”
Always!
