Chapter 15
Chu Weiyi’s attitude toward Fu Tingshen took a 180-degree turn.
Watching him fetch water and offer fruit, as a mother, I was deeply pained.
Fu Tingshen, however, was enjoying it immensely.
He accepted everything Chu Weiyi handed him.
Just as Chu Weiyi was about to stuff another apple into his mouth, I intervened.
“Are you trying to make him burst?”
Then I shot a glare at Fu Tingshen. “Are you trying to make yourself burst?”
The two of them exchanged a look.
The way they pursed their lips was identical.
“Don’t you have a flight today?” Fu Tingshen finally asked after I placed the apple on the cabinet beside him.
It wasn’t hard to detect a hint of smugness in his flat tone.
Whatever.
Considering he was still bedridden.
I’d let him be smug for a little while.
I pulled a chair over and sat down beside him, ignoring his question and asking one of my own. “Why didn’t you tell me you and Gu Qingye weren’t married?”
He raised an eyebrow.
“Do you care?”
Before I could answer, he added, “In the letter you left, you said you only saw me as your boss. Is a boss’s marital status so important to an employee?”
Well…
I had forgotten about that.
To make a clean break, I had indeed said that I was only with him for his money.
I pouted. “Then for you to come all the way here for an employee, you’re quite a responsible boss.”
“I used to think you were a docile and obedient little rabbit.” The corners of his eyes crinkled. “I never expected you were just hiding your fangs.”
It was all for the money.
I bared my teeth at him. “It’s not too late to find out now.”
“I found out long ago.” His words were laced with a soft laugh. “What little rabbit would secretly put so much chili in Auntie Lin’s food?”
I was shocked.
“So you knew.”
I’ll have to find a new way to vent next time.
“Dr. Lin, why don’t you come in?” Yang Ke’er’s voice came from the doorway.
I turned my head and saw Lin Zizhou standing at the entrance.
He walked in and gave me an awkward smile. “I came to check on Mr. Fu’s condition.”
“Thank you, Dr. Lin.” I stood up to give him my seat.
Yang Ke’er took the opportunity to pull me outside.
Knowing what she was about to say, I quickly told her about Fu Tingshen and Gu Qingye.
She nodded after listening.
“That fits the image I have of Gu Qingye,” she said, looking at me seriously and patting my shoulder. “It also fits the image I have of you.”
“What image?”
“The overbearing CEO’s sweet little wife. I don’t know why, but that’s what I thought the first time I saw you.”
Damn.
That didn’t sound like a compliment.
