The Billionaire's Runaway Mistress and His Secret Heir - Chapter 16
I went back to Shanghai with Fu Tingshen.
And so, I went from being a kindergarten accountant to an accountant at the Fu Corporation.
Yang Ke’er said it was an ascension.
I couldn’t argue with that.
Ascension was better than “sweet little wife.”
Fu Tingshen and I still lived in the manor in the suburbs.
The manor was just as it had been, even the decor in my room hadn’t changed.
The Fu family banquet was in two days.
I had been gone for six whole years.
This time, Fu Tingshen took me to the Fu family’s ancestral home.
Everyone was surprised by my and Chu Weiyi’s appearance.
It was clear that Fu Tingshen had never mentioned me to them.
“I’d heard Tingshen had an illegitimate son out there, but I never thought it was true.” After dinner, a group of women gathered in the courtyard.
The sarcastic remark was definitely about Chu Weiyi.
Chu Weiyi walked straight toward them.
“Who’s an illegitimate son?” Sometimes, when he spoke, he sounded exactly like Fu Tingshen.
It was enough to momentarily intimidate the group of gossiping women.
Chu Weiyi stood with his hands behind his back, looking like a little old man. “Daddy said the adults here are bad. I didn’t think it was true.”
I hadn’t expected him to say something like that and couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
“No manners,” one of the women said, her face red with anger. She glanced at me. “Born from a mother, but not taught by one.”
Fine, fine.
Now they were insulting me to my face.
I rolled up my sleeves, ready to argue, but Fu Tingshen put an arm around my waist from behind.
“Who is Auntie referring to?”
Fu Tingshen’s voice was cold. It wasn’t loud, but it was just enough for everyone in the courtyard to hear.
Everyone turned to look at us.
The woman gave an awkward laugh, not daring to speak.
Just then, Chu Weiyi ran back to us, pointing at the woman with an innocent look on his face. “Daddy, she said I’m an illegitimate son with no manners.”
The courtyard fell silent.
“Tingshen, it’s just a child’s nonsense. How could your auntie say something like that?” the woman quickly explained.
I blinked, and my eyes instantly turned red.
I looked at Fu Tingshen with watery eyes. “So Auntie thought I was easy to bully and only said it for me to hear.”
Fu Tingshen raised an eyebrow, his hand on my waist giving the soft flesh a little squeeze.
“Since Auntie has such a strong opinion of my wife, then the matter Second Uncle and I were discussing will need to be reconsidered.”
Wife.
I looked up at him.
But he just put his arm around me and left the ancestral home without a backward glance.
Fu Tingshen was very pleased with Chu Weiyi’s performance at the family home.
So he gave him the chance to choose any gift he wanted.
Looking at the prices of the high-end toys on the shelf, I swallowed hard.
It wasn’t until Chu Weiyi stopped in front of the most expensive astronomical telescope that Fu Tingshen raised an eyebrow, seemingly satisfied.
He smiled and asked me, “Besides me, who else can afford to raise him?”
I shook my head vigorously.
Who could possibly afford that?
