Chapter 2
“I don’t know why, but I feel like these days are becoming a little meaningless.
“You must feel the same way, right? Every day, if you’re not coming home to watch dramas, eat dinner, and take walks with me, you’re just working day after day.
“Besides, my colleagues always joke that they’ve never seen a big boss with a net worth like yours willing to be childfree.
“Yuan Chen, go find someone who loves you, someone who can love you the way you love me, and love you enough to have a child for you.
“I’m sorry I let you down.”
Yuan Chen was silent for a long time before he finally replied in a low voice, “Alright.”
Then, in just a month, he had arranged everything, giving me assets worth two billion–including a house and a car.
The day we walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, he hugged me lightly. His cool voice was tinged with a trace of choking, “I can’t give you my blessing, but I respect every decision you make.”
Later, I ended up with that person.
I bought him a house and a car, paid his parents’ medical bills, bought his sister a college diploma, and even gave her 1.8 million in advance as a dowry.
He was very happy, personally cooking for me–simple stir-fried greens and carrot soup–but it held a unique, homely aroma.
A taste of life’s warmth that I hadn’t felt in the past eight years.
We lived together like this for three months, then registered for a marriage certificate and became a legal couple.
For our honeymoon, I chose an overseas island, even booking a private hot spring villa, wanting to spend a sweet half-month with him.
But on the third day after arriving, I was forced–dragged away by a rip current.
Yes, forced.
That man pressed my head down until I was floating limp in the sea, and just like that, the water carried me away.
By the time I was found, half a month had passed. My body was chewed beyond recognition, only identifiable by DNA.
That man cried uncontrollably on the flight back home, but after landing, he hastily buried me and then inherited all my estate.
On the seventh day after my death, my grave was deserted, mud everywhere, even passersby frowned and avoided it.
Only Yuan Chen, carrying a bouquet of white roses, came through the mire. Always calm and steady, he actually knelt before my grave and cried out loud, heartbroken.
