Chapter 3
“Madam?” The housekeeper called out to me again.
I snapped back to reality and pointed to the walk-in closet, “None of those, I want the dark green qipao(Traditional Chinese body-hugging dress).”
It was the one Yuan Chen had custom-made for me, intending to match my bracelet as a surprise, but I had dismissed it due to the color.
The housekeeper was puzzled, “Madam, didn’t you say last night that Mr. Yuan’s taste was too plain and that it didn’t look good?”
I smiled, “I misjudged it last night.”
The housekeeper muttered as she went over, “Actually, I also thought it looked good, it really complements your elegance, Madam. After all, it cost hundreds of thousands to make, and the material is impeccable.”
I slowly stood up from the sofa, drank a cup of tea to calm the surprise and excitement in my heart, and then changed into the qipao.
Heavens have eyes, granting me a second chance to finally understand what is good and right.
The phone rang; it was a call from Yuan Chen.
“Yanyan, the driver has arrived. You go ahead first, I’ll come after the meeting.”
I replied gently, “Alright.”
After hanging up, my face immediately darkened.
The butler was somewhat puzzled, “Madam, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, just change the driver.”
I didn’t want to see that disgusting face again.
But the butler said, “This, we can’t find another one on such short notice, and there’s no time. Could you make do?”
“Then book me a private car.”
In the past, I had a cleanliness obsession and refused to take ride-hailing cars, and Yuan Chen had spoiled me to the point where I never drove myself.
But now, as long as I don’t have to see him, anything is fine.
The butler had no choice but to book a car for me at the last minute.
However, the car was stopped by the property management outside the community and couldn’t enter. I had to walk 20 minutes to get there.
Walk it is, it’s just a pair of high heels lost.
But as I stepped out with my bag, that person was already standing awkwardly by the car, and upon seeing me, his face froze.
I ignored him and continued walking forward.
His voice sounded behind me, filled with helplessness.
“Yanyan… I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you.
“But I really need this 2000 daily wage to pay for my dad’s medical bills this week.”
Back then, he was the school bully, wild and cool, with eyes for no one but me.
When had he ever pleaded with someone in such a tone?
I paused, not knowing why, feeling a bit of bitterness.
