My Ex-Boyfriend Fell for My Sister - Chapter 7
On the eve of my younger sister’s birthday, Jake ended up in the hospital due to an allergic reaction.
The cause was the shrimp she had cooked.
Feeling guilty, my younger sister called me in tears, asking me to come over. She said that Jake’s father and stepmother had also arrived and were causing quite a scene in the hospital room, and she didn’t know what to do.
When I arrived, I heard his father scolding him: “Your stepmother is worried about your health, and you never come home. She kindly brought me to see you and even made soup for you, and this is how you repay her?”
He pointed at the rice and soup spilled on the floor: “Where are your manners? Have you forgotten who took care of you every day after your mother died?”
Jake kept his head down: “Can you please stop appearing in front of me? Every time I see you, I feel like throwing up.”
He spoke softly: “Really, I can’t help it.”
Jake’s father was so angry he wanted to hit him, but the stepmother stopped him, and he could only curse, “Ungrateful brat!”
My younger sister hesitated, not daring to step forward.
Jake lifted his eyelids, his tone mocking: “When the one in my stepmother’s belly comes out, should I call him cousin or brother?”
Jake’s father flew into a rage and threw a cup of water at him.
The stepmother stood by, her face pale.
Jake, with his hair wet, looked up and his gaze met mine outside the hospital room. He paused for a moment.
He looked at me and suddenly smiled.
As if to say: See, how disgusting I am.
In the past, I might have rushed in to protect him or driven away everyone he didn’t want to see.
But this time, I turned and left in silence.
Some people are stuck in the mire, and they don’t need saving; they just want to drag you in to become like them.
