My Ex-Boyfriend Fell for My Sister - Chapter 8
As I stepped out of the hospital entrance, I happened to bump into Alex, who had just parked his car and was getting out.
It was early autumn. Dressed in a black trench coat, his bangs covering his eyebrows, he really was the kind of handsome guy girls liked.
“What’s wrong?” He strode over to me, scanning my expression, his brows knitted. “Did they bully you?”
“No,” I shook my head. “Jake’s dad and stepmother were there too.”
I gave him a brief account of what had happened.
Alex was silent for a few seconds. “Jake’s feelings for your younger sister are probably more than just liking. The relationship among the three of you reflects his resentment over his father’s affair.”
I lowered my head, staring at my toes.
My younger sister wasn’t entirely innocent, and I knew that well.
I’d told her so much about Jake. She knew exactly what Jake had gone through, yet she still chose to betray me and get together with him.
“If you want to date someone, why not consider me? My family’s well-off, my parents love each other, I’m well-adjusted, and I’m a promising young man.” Alex was completely serious. “The most important thing is, I’m really devoted.”
I looked up and saw his eyes, bright as stars reflected in the California night sky.
He actually seemed kind of cute.
It was the second time I’d thought that.
That night, when I got home, I thought it over carefully. At two in the morning, I messaged him: All right.
Two minutes later, he replied: All right what?
I said: Didn’t you want to date?
Then there was five minutes of silence.
Just as I was starting to feel I’d been too forward, Alex sent a screenshot-he’d changed my contact name to: Baby.
Alex urged: Hurry up, change mine too.
I refused: That’s too mushy, and so cheesy.
Alex: If you liked me, you wouldn’t think it was mushy.
I took a deep breath, hands trembling as I changed his contact name and sent him a screenshot.
He immediately replied with an emoji.
Ten minutes later, he sent another message: Damn, now I can’t sleep.
I couldn’t be bothered to reply.
