My Ex-Boyfriend Fell for My Sister - Chapter 6
In the middle of the night, I was chatting with my best friend, casually saving a few of the funny emojis she sent me, when suddenly I received a message from Alex asking if I was back.
Instinctively, I wanted to send a commonly used emoji, but in my haste, I accidentally sent one of the newly saved ones.
Although I quickly retracted it, I was sure he had already seen it.
The chat box showed that the other party was typing…
My face instantly flushed.
Alex: Nice pic, got more?
Me: …
Alex: I thought you were quiet and wanted to take things slow, didn’t expect you to be into this kind of stuff too.
I cautiously replied: What do you mean by “too”?
Alex: I thought your focus was on taking it slow.
Alex asked me out for lunch on the weekend.
The next day was the weekend.
At the entrance of the neighborhood, his first words were the same as Jake’s: “Looks like you’ve gotten a tan?”
I pursed my lips, touching my arms and face.
He got out of the car and, with great courtesy, opened the car door for me: “No worries, you’re still fairer than me.”
We chatted about some high school memories, like which teacher was the strictest, who did the most embarrassing thing, and which popular girl in class ended up marrying whom.
I sighed, “Back then, several girls in class had a crush on you.”
Alex laughed, “Except you, right?”
I was taken aback.
“In sophomore year, you only remembered my name, and after graduation, when I greeted you on the street, you looked so puzzled that it frustrated me for quite a while.”
At that time, I was focused solely on studying and didn’t really care about what the most popular guy in class looked like.
I said, “Well… I was a late bloomer and face-blind.”
“So frustrating.” Alex hit the steering wheel, “If I had known you were just purely naive, I would’ve pursued you no matter what.”
He said gloomily, “And wouldn’t have let Jake get the jump on me.”
I was startled and quickly changed the subject: “…Focus on driving, don’t get distracted.”
Alex rolled his eyes at me.
We had French cuisine for dinner.
I asked, “Why choose this place?”
With a serious face, Alex placed the napkin on his lap: “If I chose somewhere else, you wouldn’t think it’s a date.”
He poured me a glass of wine: “It’s all about the atmosphere.”
I was at a loss for words.
“By the way, can’t you handle alcohol?” He frowned, “Get tipsy after just a drink?”
I nodded.
“Then just watch me drink.” He pulled the wine glass back in front of him, “Remember to take me home.”
In the end, it was Alex who drank quite a bit, and with the help of the waiter and me, he managed to get into the car.
Even though the waiter was taller and stronger, Alex insisted on wrapping his arm around my shoulder, leaning half of his weight on me.
I suspected he was faking it.
Finally getting into the car, Alex looked at me with his dark eyes and softly gave an address.
I stepped on the brake, started the engine, but he laughed, holding my hand: “Silly, I called a designated driver, let him take you home first.”
I looked at him in confusion.
“It’s so late, how could I let you go back alone?”
