My Contract Husband Won't Behave - Chapter 62
Feelings had never troubled Bo Jiusi before. Yet throughout the drive, the crease between his brows never loosened.
The car soon reached the Bo family estate.
He concealed every emotion, restored his unsmiling composure, stepped out, and crossed the threshold in his immaculate suit.
In the main hall, Old Master Bo sat in a traditional armchair, turning a pair of glossy walnuts. At the footsteps, he raised his eyelids and displayed his customary benevolent smile.
“Little Jiu is back. Did everything go smoothly in Linhai?”
Bo Jiusi stood at the center of the hall and studied that smile.
“Shenglin was raided. You didn’t hear?”
The walnuts paused.
“Really?” The old man’s surprise was unhurried. “When? No one told me.”
As if he could possibly not know.
Bo Jiusi sneered and sat opposite him.
Old Master Bo continued pretending ignorance. “Wasn’t Shenglin’s general manager signing a contract with you? Why were they suddenly raided? You weren’t implicated, were you?”
“I’m fine. But you should know more about Shenglin than I do.”
“What kind of thing is that to say?” The old man put down the walnuts, sounding offended as an elder. “Shenglin is Shenglin. The Bo family is the Bo family. Why should I know?”
The old bastard loved playing innocent. Bo Jiusi had no interest in arguing with him.
He took out his phone, started the recording, and placed it on the table.
Old Master Bo and the second great-uncle’s voices filled the hall.
“Once Little Jiu signs today’s partnership, if anything happens to this shipment, every crime and every bit of blame will fall on him alone…”
“I didn’t give him control of the Asia-Pacific region so he could enjoy an easy life…”
When it ended, the hall became deathly still.
A crack finally appeared in the old man’s kindly face. His fingers tightened faintly on the armrest as he stared at the phone.
“Where did you obtain that?” His voice turned cold.
“You just claimed ignorance about Shenglin. Are you also ignorant of the words you and the second great-uncle spoke in this recording?”
After decades moving through business and politics, Old Master Bo would not collapse over one recording.
“A recording proves nothing. Anyone can imitate a voice. It isn’t evidence anywhere.”
Bo Jiusi had expected that.
“Shall we test it? I’ll give it to police and see what they uncover.”
The old man’s face darkened.
Bo Jiusi watched him with mild calm while the air seemed sucked from the hall.
Then Old Master Bo laughed. “Little Jiu, you didn’t come merely to play this for me. Tell me what you want.”
Bo Jiusi’s expression remained flat. “I want to see my mother.”
“Your mother is in poor health and receiving treatment.” The old man sighed. “Doctors say she is unstable and shouldn’t see visitors. When she improves—”
“I’ve waited eighteen years. Long enough.”
When he was ten, his mother had become gravely ill. Under the pretext of treatment, the old bastard confined her. Bo Jiusi had never seen her since. Each year, as promised, Old Master Bo provided a video she had recorded for him so he could be sure she was still alive.
“Next Friday,” the old man said, gaze uncertain. “I’ll arrange a meeting next Friday.”
Bo Jiusi saw through the intention. “Grandfather, delaying to move my mother is useless.”
“She recently began a new treatment plan. This week is critical, and doctors forbid disturbance. Would you rather watch her bedridden and tortured by illness?”
Knowing his mother was Bo Jiusi’s deepest concern, the old man pressed while his face darkened.
“When treatment ends next Friday, I promise mother and son will meet. I keep my word.”
Bo Jiusi regained his composure. “I don’t care what excuse you use. I will see her next Friday.”
“If I don’t see her—” He picked up the phone. “This recording goes to the police. Shenglin’s general manager’s testimony will make headlines across every news outlet. Every overseas transaction Bo Group has handled over the years will be audited again.”
His gaze stayed level and cold. “You’ve held that position for decades. You know better than I do: some things cause no trouble while no one investigates. Once they do, control is no longer yours.”
The old man’s smile vanished. His fingers gripped the walnuts until his knuckles whitened.
Bo Jiusi did not await an answer. He turned and left.
Afterward, Old Master Bo stared at the doorway, his face cold.
“Someone come.”
The butler hurried from the side hall and stood with lowered hands. “Sir.”
“Find how that recording leaked. Investigate every person who entered Little Jiu’s office that day.”
“Yes.” The butler hesitated. “Sir, next Friday… will you truly arrange the meeting? But Little Master Jiu’s mother has already…”
The old man raised his eyes sharply, a blade flashing through their cloudiness. “I have arrangements.”
The butler immediately fell silent, cold sweat forming down his back.
“Eighteen years. Everything has remained under my control, and that little bastard thinks he can break free?”
Old Master Bo sneered. “His wings have certainly hardened.”

While a storm brewed over the Bo family estate, Nie Jingzhi’s world was peaceful.
She slept all afternoon. At sunset, her chat with Bo Jiusi still contained only his ellipsis.
She scoffed, tossed away the phone, and remained in bed. If she could not understand, she would stop trying. His unpredictable temper was nothing new.
The next morning, her phone vibrated within her dream. Squinting, she found two words from Bo Jiusi.
*Come down.*
Eight-thirty.
He was more punctual than her prenatal doctor.
She lazily replied, *I know*, then washed, put on a loose knit dress, and gathered her hair into a casual bun. Her complexion was good; no makeup was required. Since pregnancy, she could not even be bothered with lipstick. She looked beautiful regardless.
On reaching the bottom of the stairs, she stopped.
Xu Wei sat elegantly on the sofa with floral tea and a meaningful smile.
“Mom? Aren’t you going to the company?” Nie Jingzhi asked while changing shoes.
Xu Wei sipped and glanced outside, teasing suggestively.
“Bo Jiusi is here to pick you up.”
