Chapter 13
The part of her back not covered by the swimsuit was marked by a large, terrifying burn scar, uneven and rough.
It stood in stark contrast to the delicate, fair skin surrounding it.
I looked on, my voice hoarse.
Duan Yutang turned around.
She glanced at my reaction, unsurprised.
“Is it scary?”
She casually picked up a towel and draped it over her shoulders.
I watched her in silence.
She met my gaze and slowly walked closer.
“This is the mark I got nine years ago saving Chen Sui. I love it, if anything. Why do you think it’s scary? It’s proof that I love him.”
She spoke each word clearly: “I would die for him.”
Looking into her eyes, bottomless and dark, I vaguely saw something that could only be called pathological.
A madwoman.
I couldn’t help but take a step back.
The curve of her lips slowly widened.
But her smile was cold.
“So, what makes you think you deserve to call yourself Chen Sui’s girlfriend?”
A chill ran down my spine, and I suddenly wanted to escape.
The next second, Duan Yutang shoved me, unguarded, straight into the pool.
I flailed and struggled in the water.
I could faintly hear Duan Yutang’s voice by my ear.
“Can’t swim? What a coincidence, I had them turn off the surveillance too.”
“Now’s the perfect chance to prove to me you love Chen Sui more than I do. If you can, I’ll let you be with him. How about that?”
I hadn’t looked carefully before falling in.
The water washed over my head again and again, and only then did I realize this was the deep end.
