Chapter 14
“Qiao Xi!”
I seemed to hear Chen Sui’s voice.
A few seconds later, I was pulled out of the water by a strong force.
Chen Sui supported me back to the edge of the pool.
I sat on the chair, coughing heavily.
“Chen Sui…” Duan Yutang called him softly, her voice a little helpless.
Chen Sui acted as if he hadn’t heard her, patting my back over and over.
“Are you feeling better?”
Once I caught my breath, the fear hit me in hindsight.
My eyes instantly reddened. I didn’t dare to speak, just stared at him blankly.
Afraid that if I opened my mouth, I would start crying. My tearful nature reached its peak the moment I saw Chen Sui.
Chen Sui’s furrowed brows never relaxed.
He raised his hand and pulled me straight into his arms, his hand resting on the back of my head.
“It’s okay, it’s okay.”
Since there was a third person present, I didn’t dare stay in Chen Sui’s arms for long.
I quickly pushed him away and sat up on my own.
“Are you still feeling unwell?”
Chen Sui squatted in front of me, wrapping me in a bath towel.
I shook my head. “I didn’t really choke on much.”
Luckily, Chen Sui came in time.
He nodded, pulled me up, and led me away.
He didn’t even glance at Duan Yutang beside us.
“Chen Sui!”
Duan Yutang raised her voice: “Are you angry with me over an outsider?”
I clenched my back teeth.
Who are you calling an outsider?
Chen Sui stopped, turned back, and looked at her.
His voice was utterly emotionless.
“The only reason I’ve put up with you this long is because of that fire. Nothing else.”
He curled his lips. “But these past few days, I’ve been thinking about something.”
“How did my study catch fire for no reason?”
Duan Yutang’s face visibly paled.
“What do you mean by that?”
Chen Sui gave a meaningless smile.
He said nothing more and led me away.
Just as I was about to leave, I looked back and saw Duan Yutang still standing where she was.
