Chapter 13
My eyes darkened, and I paused for a moment.
I couldn’t quite react to that statement immediately.
So, going back to get something was a lie.
Julian Montgomery actually… wants to restrict me from finding another man?
I wouldn’t dare to imagine he’s jealous, or possessive.
It seems more like that peculiar habit of “I won’t let anyone else pick up what I’ve discarded”?
“What kind of restriction?”
Filled with sarcasm, the smile on my lips grew colder:
“Buy out the rest of my life so I won’t find another man?”
“If I didn’t misunderstand.”
“This kind of buyout, in mutual affection, is called a betrothal gift.”
“In the absence of marriage discussion, it’s called keeping, isn’t it?”
“Young Master Montgomery certainly can’t be the first kind.”
“So it’s the second, then?”
“What? Not bothered that I’m a witness to the stain?”
I laughed mockingly, but Julian Montgomery furrowed his brows, his voice cold.
His expression carried a hint of agitation he wasn’t even aware of:
“It’s not keeping.”
His fingers began to tremble slightly from extreme anger.
I took a deep breath and laughed even more openly:
“Oh, not marrying, not keeping.”
“Most likely won’t have any more interactions in the future.”
“Out of sight, out of touch, so what’s Young Master Montgomery trying to achieve by restricting me?”
The steering wheel turned sharply, and the car stopped by the roadside.
Julian Montgomery’s Adam’s apple moved up and down.
His fingers unconsciously clenched into fists, veins bulging on the back of his hand.
Yet he didn’t utter a single word.
I didn’t know if he was speechless.
Or if he hadn’t figured it out himself.
But in truth, none of that mattered anymore.
Because–
“Sorry, Young Master Montgomery.”
“You want to buy.”
“I don’t want to sell.”
I opened the car door and got out.
Walking into the swirling snowflakes, without looking back.
Only as I walked with my head held high, it seemed snowflakes got into my eyes.
Couldn’t help it, inexplicably, my eyes turned red.
