Chapter 8
I opened my mouth, wanting to make a sound.
But I failed.
I didn’t know what else to say.
Only tears quietly fell.
In my memory, Ji Yuxuan had always been accommodating to me since childhood, never arguing with me.
Even after our relationship broke down.
It was always me who hurled those hurtful words.
He never retorted.
Now, when I stopped saying those things, he didn’t believe me.
The bullet screen floated by.
[Have you heard the story of the boy who cried wolf1? Every time the female lead seeks her brother, it’s never good news. After calling too often, he stops believing.]
[But look at his expression, he seems more upset than his sister.]
Through tearful eyes, I couldn’t see Ji Yuxuan’s expression clearly.
I only saw him prop himself up and pull out a few tissues.
He handed them to me.
“Go back to your ward and rest well.”
I didn’t reach out to take the tissues.
Tears fell onto Ji Yuxuan’s wrist.
He sighed lightly, seemingly helpless.
With effort, he raised his hand, pinching the tissue, and gently pressed it against the corner of my eye.
“Don’t cry. I told you when you were little, crying too much will make you blind.”
Hearing the words “when you were little,” I cried even harder.
I sobbed and asked him, “Brother, can we go back to when we were little?”
Ji Yuxuan lowered his head, silent.
I asked him again, “Brother, can you hold Yutong like you did when we were little?”
Ji Yuxuan remained silent for a while.
Finally, he slightly opened his arms.
I threw myself into his embrace.
Tears rubbed against the back of his neck.
My lips brushed his earlobe.
Murmuring apologies.
“Brother… I’m sorry… really sorry…”
I felt a wetness on the back of my neck too.
Ji Yuxuan was crying.
The bullet screen floated around our embrace.
[The brother has suffered too much torment and grievance, a few words can’t make up for it.]
[One side has to be more proactive, or they’ll both end up as two little bitter gourds.]
When we parted, I lightly brushed a kiss across his jawline.
Like a dragonfly skimming the water, barely there.
Ji Yuxuan covered the spot where I had kissed.
His whole body stiffened.
The look he gave me was filled with astonishment.
And many emotions I couldn’t understand.
