I'm Done with the Elite Marriage - Chapter 83
What surprised Zhou Youling even more was that Fu Xunzhou had absolutely no sense of shame. It was obvious she didn’t want him to come in, but he deliberately pretended not to notice.
“Where’s Mumu?” Fu Xunzhou asked.
Zhou Youling frowned, looking at Fu Xunzhou defensively. “What do you want?”
Fu Xunzhou shrugged, his eyebrows lifting slightly, adding a hint of mischief to his usually cold face. He ignored the doubt in Zhou Youling’s eyes and walked straight into her home.
Zhou Youling was just about to stop him when Zhou Zhishan came over and greeted Fu Xunzhou, “You’re here.”
Fu Xunzhou smiled and nodded at Zhou Zhishan, handing over what he was carrying. “A fishing rod for you.”
Zhou Zhishan laughed, “Oh, you’re giving me something again. Ah, it’s hard to refuse when someone brings gifts.”
Fu Xunzhou said, “You like it. I’m the junior, it’s only right for me to give you something.”
“Then I’ll accept it.”
The two of them really did seem like father and son, completely ignoring Zhou Youling standing behind them.
Zhou Youling stood there fuming, and as Fu Xunzhou walked toward the living room, he glanced at her as if unintentionally, but Zhou Youling clearly saw the smugness in his eyes.
Damn!
Seeing Fu Xunzhou about to approach Mumu, Zhou Youling hurriedly stepped forward, blocking his way.
Zhou Zhishan, seeing the situation, very tactfully left space for the two young people and slipped into the kitchen himself.
Fu Xunzhou wasn’t annoyed. He looked down at Zhou Youling, and there was actually a hint of gentle affection in his eyes?
Zhou Youling blinked, making sure she wasn’t seeing things.
Fu Xunzhou spoke, “Has Mumu been easy to take care of lately?”
“Thank you for your concern.” Zhou Youling bent down carefully to play with Mumu, who was lying in the crib.
After leaving the postpartum confinement center, the nanny Rong Huiying hired arrived, dedicated to taking care of Mumu. With Rong Huiying also lending a hand, overall it wasn’t too tiring.
But what Zhou Youling always regretted was that after her postpartum confinement, she no longer had breast milk, so now Mumu could only have formula.
Zhou Youling felt very guilty about this. She always thought breast milk was better for the baby in every way, but she couldn’t give her child the best.
Just as she was thinking this, a warm, large hand gently touched Zhou Youling’s shoulder.
Zhou Youling quickly dodged to the side, instinctively slapping that hand hard.
Fu Xunzhou’s hand froze in midair, a trace of helplessness on his face. He discreetly withdrew his hand and reminded Zhou Youling, “Your shoulder strap is showing.”
Zhou Youling looked at her shoulder and saw a thin strap exposed.
In that instant, it was no exaggeration to say Zhou Youling’s cheeks flushed bright red.
Now that the weather was warm, Zhou Youling was wearing light and loose clothes, and this had happened several times today. She’d planned to change as soon as she got home, but once she was back, all her attention went to Mumu and she didn’t bother.
Fu Xunzhou leaned in slightly, getting closer to Zhou Youling. “You’re blushing a bit too much.”
Hearing this, Zhou Youling shoved Fu Xunzhou away, biting her teeth angrily. “You did this on purpose to embarrass me, didn’t you!”
“Why would I want to embarrass you?” Fu Xunzhou looked innocent. “It’s not like I made your strap show.”
He even sounded reasonable. “There’s no one else around, I just wanted to help you fix it, but you overreacted a bit.”
Zhou Youling instinctively glanced around.
It really was strange–such a big living room, and only Zhou Youling and Fu Xunzhou, two adults.
Fu Xunzhou walked to the other side of the crib and, as if it were nothing, asked the baby lying inside, “Mumu, do you think mom is overreacting?”
This made Zhou Youling bristle again. “You’re the one overreacting!”
Fu Xunzhou looked up, smiling gently at Zhou Youling, not arguing back.
His reaction only made Zhou Youling feel even more embarrassed.
Zhou Youling almost “fled in panic,” turning and heading for the kitchen.
In the kitchen, dad, mom, and the nanny were all busy.
Zhou Youling sniffed the air, which smelled pretty good, and asked, “What are you making?”
The nanny said, “Tonight we’re having Fried Sauce Noodles, let you try our Beijing-style old Beijing Fried Sauce Noodles.”
The nanny aunt was from Beijing, and during her time working for the Zhou Family, she’d gotten along very well with Rong Huiying.
Tonight, Rong Huiying suddenly wanted Fried Sauce Noodles, and it just so happened that the aunt was an expert at making them.
The aunt’s surname was Wang, and she spoke authentic Beijing dialect, which was very infectious. She said, “I used to run a noodle shop, trust my skills, you’ll be satisfied!”
Zhou Youling herself ran a restaurant, and smelling the aroma, she couldn’t help but get curious.
It was a bit embarrassing to admit, but she’d been to many places since childhood and had never actually been to Beijing, let alone the Great Wall or Tiananmen.
Zhou Youling grew up in Nanzhou City, a typical Jiangnan water town, where it rarely snowed in winter.
After a while, Zhou Youling started learning how to make traditional old Beijing Fried Sauce Noodles from Aunt Wang.
Zhou Youling could make quite a few types of noodles and had tried learning Beijing Fried Sauce Noodles before. But Aunt Wang had her own secret sauce, and just the smell was irresistible.
Dinner was Fried Sauce Noodles, and the whole family ate with great enjoyment.
A simple bowl of noodles could make people feel completely satisfied.
While they were eating noodles, Aunt Wang brought over a few cloves of garlic, enthusiastically handing them out to the Zhou Family, saying, “Take a bite of garlic, it tastes even better.”
The Zhou Family couldn’t accept eating raw garlic. Aunt Wang then kindly offered the garlic to Fu Xunzhou, who was eating his noodles in a refined manner.
Fu Xunzhou’s eating habits were entirely southern as well, so he politely declined the idea of eating raw garlic.
Zhou Youling looked at Fu Xunzhou’s helpless, frowning face and suddenly found him very funny. She really couldn’t imagine what it would be like if Fu Xunzhou, who always cared about his image, had a mouthful of garlic breath.
As Zhou Youling thought about it, she couldn’t help but actually let out a “pfft” and laughed.
While she was laughing, Zhou Youling saw four pairs of eyes staring straight at her.
Zhou Youling lightly coughed to cover her embarrassment and lowered her head to continue eating Fried Sauce Noodles.
During the meal, Zhou Youling pretended to look up unintentionally, only to meet Fu Xunzhou’s gaze. Fu Xunzhou raised his eyebrows slightly at her, and Zhou Youling followed his line of sight to her own shoulder.
Zhou Youling couldn’t eat another bite of her noodles after that.
What puzzled Zhou Youling most about this dinner was Rong Huiying’s attitude.
In the past, Rong Huiying was the most resistant to Fu Xunzhou, but tonight, not only did she not mock him, she even asked after he finished a bowl of Fried Sauce Noodles, “Do you want some more? There’s still noodles in the pot.”
Fu Xunzhou didn’t stand on ceremony and actually asked for a bit more.
Rong Huiying personally scooped up the noodles for Fu Xunzhou and mixed the sauce for him.
After dinner, Fu Xunzhou sat with the Zhou Family for a while longer, chatting with Zhou Zhishan about current affairs. The two talked animatedly, and Zhou Zhishan became more and more excited, muttering as he spoke.
Rong Huiying couldn’t help but complain about Zhou Zhishan, “Oh, give it a rest, you’re just meddling in things that don’t concern you.”
Zhou Zhishan retorted, “How am I meddling? Forget it, you don’t understand, I won’t argue with you.”
“Right, right, I don’t understand. Then you go change Mumu’s diaper,” Rong Huiying said.
Fu Xunzhou, on the side, reacted quickly and immediately stood up, saying, “Let me do it.”
Mumu had just woken up, and the first thing he did was poop.
Honestly, this little guy’s poop was exceptionally stinky.
But Fu Xunzhou didn’t mind at all, patiently and carefully helping out. He was so meticulous that even Zhou Youling, as the mother, felt a bit ashamed in comparison.
During Zhou Youling’s postpartum confinement, Rong Huiying wouldn’t let her touch water or get out of bed, so she rarely handled the baby herself. After the confinement, Aunt Wang took over the care, and with Zhou Youling busy with both restaurants, she really didn’t have much time for Mumu.
While Fu Xunzhou was cleaning up Mumu, Aunt Wang kept praising him, “Your technique is really professional and gentle, it should be done just like this.”
After Mumu’s first month, his weight started to soar, and now he was already over ten jin. He was almost two months old and much bigger than other kids his age.
After cleaning up Mumu, Fu Xunzhou personally made him a bottle of formula.
Rong Huiying and Zhou Zhishan stood not far away, nodding in satisfaction.
During this period, watching Fu Xunzhou, Rong Huiying couldn’t help but think a lot. Putting aside everything in the past, Fu Xunzhou was truly outstanding among young men, very rare indeed. But now, she wouldn’t deliberately try to match her daughter with Fu Xunzhou; everything would be up to their own fate. Although a woman can survive without a man, as parents, they still hope their daughter can have a good man to rely on.
It was getting late, and Fu Xunzhou got up to say goodbye. Zhou Zhishan nudged Zhou Youling and said, “Go see him out.”
Zhou Youling wasn’t too happy about it, but she did have a few words she wanted to say to Fu Xunzhou alone, so she got up.
After seeing Fu Xunzhou to the door, Zhou Youling spoke, “Fu Xunzhou, are you planning something with the child now?”
Fu Xunzhou replied, “I told you, I won’t.”
Zhou Youling didn’t believe Fu Xunzhou. From everything he’d done recently, she had a bad feeling. “Let me be blunt…”
“If I fight you for the child, you’ll take me to court, right?” Fu Xunzhou simply finished her sentence for her.
Zhou Youling was stunned for a moment, then Fu Xunzhou grabbed her wrist.
“Come with me,” Fu Xunzhou said.
Zhou Youling wanted to struggle, but Fu Xunzhou was strong, and in just a few steps, the two of them were in the hallway.
“What are you doing?” Zhou Youling asked.
Fu Xunzhou said, “There’s something I want to show you. Come with me.”
Zhou Youling didn’t want to go with Fu Xunzhou, but her body seemed to have a mind of its own. For three whole months, Fu Xunzhou had given her a gift every day, and she had gotten used to receiving them. But recently, Fu Xunzhou had been busy with things in Nanzhou City and hadn’t given her any gifts.
As she was thinking this, Zhou Youling had already followed Fu Xunzhou to a door.
Fu Xunzhou unlocked the fingerprint code lock, and as soon as the door opened, all the lights in the room turned on.
Zhou Youling stood at the doorway, looking at the room full of things, and in surprise, she reached out to cover her mouth.
