I Divorced Him Quietly, Then He Went Crazy - Chapter 15
The next time I saw Jeremy was several days later.
That initial impulsive urge had passed, and he had calmed down, inquiring around.
He quickly learned that I had no fiancé whatsoever.
As for an engagement, it was just a baseless rumor.
Brandon Zhou called me to complain, saying he had caused big trouble this time, and for the next six months, he might not get any free time – Jeremy was angry with him for spreading false information and had given him several tricky projects.
That evening, I saw Jeremy at my doorstep.
He had shed his previous dejection, appearing more composed.
He called my name seriously, as he used to: “Charlotte.”
My heart tightened slightly.
He stepped closer, looking down at me.
“I misunderstood before, I apologize.”
I was speechless for a moment.
Only then did I finally look up at him.
In the dim stairwell, the man’s features were still handsome.
He stepped closer, almost as if throwing caution to the wind: “Do you know?”
“These past few years, I’ve missed you very much.”
I had never heard words like that from his lips.
For a moment, I felt angry, and a little like crying.
If I had heard it sooner,
perhaps, we wouldn’t have reached this point.
I would have understood that
he wasn’t completely devoid of feelings for me.
And I wouldn’t have left so resolutely.
It was strange; at this moment, my heart was unexpectedly calm.
I even had time to wonder about him and Evelyn Tan.
What about them?
Would the golden couple also end in regret?
As if sensing my thoughts, Jeremy’s brows furrowed: “She remarried a long time ago.”
I was silent for a long time.
Finally, I looked up at Jeremy and said, “None of that matters anymore.”
Even without Evelyn Tan,
Jeremy and I might not have had a good ending.
As others said, we were never from the same world.
I was his mismatch, his second choice.
From the very beginning, it was wrong.
