I Divorced Him Quietly, Then He Went Crazy - Chapter 16
After that day, I didn’t see Jeremy again.
A few days later, our department went out to have some fun together.
Halfway through, I felt bored, so I came out to be alone for a while.
But I didn’t expect to hear my name in the hallway.
“Who hasn’t figured it out these past few years? The person Jeremy truly cares about is Charlotte.”
“Who would have thought? I always thought he and Evelyn were the perfect match.”
Someone sighed regretfully: “Yeah, that Charlotte, besides her humble background, she’s always so cold and distant when she’s with us, she just can’t let loose. She only suits Jeremy’s taste.”
“…”
Inside the room, their discussion continued.
I had heard these words many times before.
Hearing them again this time, my heart didn’t stir even a bit.
But the next moment, a pair of hands covered my ears.
A moment later, I was pulled behind him, and then he kicked open the door to the private room.
I stared blankly at the man’s back.
He stood against the light, his expression unreadable.
“Whether we’re a match or not, what the hell does it have to do with you?”
After speaking, he glanced at me, then squeezed my wrist: “Wait for me outside.”
I stood outside for a short while, then Jeremy came out.
I asked him, “Why are you here?”
He looked down at me, his eyes holding something I couldn’t understand.
“Just passing by.”
I hummed, not exposing him.
There’s no such thing as such a coincidence.
He sighed, looking at me, and suddenly said, “Those three years, did you suffer a lot?”
I was startled, then shook my head.
Not really.
Before, when we had free time, we would sit together and watch movies.
We would also chat about some trivial topics.
But now, those things felt like they belonged to a past life.
At this moment, if I had to describe us with one words,
it would be ‘strangers.’
