Chapter 4
After a few rounds of drinks, my bestie, the birthday girl, proposed a new game.
A hidden mission.
Everyone except Lu Xiao, who wasn’t playing, drew a card with a secret task on it. We had to complete it before the party ended. Whoever failed had to pay for the entire night’s bill.
I glanced at the tables laden with bottles of expensive liquor that could cover my salary for several years, then looked down at the card in my hand.
A faint sense of doom washed over me.

To my left.
Was Lu Xiao.
Clutching my phone, I cautiously stole a glance to my left.
Lu Xiao, who had been looking at his phone, suddenly looked up. “Yes?”
“N-nothing.”
I quickly turned back, heart pounding.
It seemed I had gotten away with it.
A moment later, I peeked at him again, hesitating.
He asked again, “Something you need?”
“Nope.”
I denied it once more.
And once more, I seemed to get away with it.
But this time, I thought I heard Lu Xiao let out a soft chuckle.
My back immediately tensed up.
How could I ask for his WeChat in a way that seemed normal and wouldn’t draw too much attention?
The third time I peeked at him, my face was flushed with anxiety and nervousness.
To my horror, our eyes met.
He had been watching me for who knows how long.
His gaze swept over my blushing cheeks, and he raised an eyebrow.
“If you want my WeChat, just ask.”
!
Wow.
He actually figured out my mission.
I awkwardly held up my QR code.
“Um… is that okay?”
“Sure. But next time you hit on me, you can be more direct.”
?
I was confused.
Who was hitting on him?
But regardless, my hidden mission was a success.
