Heartbeat Step by Step - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Early the next morning, I was woken up by a string of phone calls.
“Brother Jia, what’s up?”
“Xiao Huai, Xie Xu’s people from Nanchuan Film and Television came to the company. They said they want to sign you.”
“Sign me?”
I couldn’t help thinking back to all the drunk nonsense Xie Xu had said last night.
Holy shit. He didn’t actually contact the company while he was drunk, did he?
“Yeah. They said that since I’ve been managing you for so long, they wanted to ask if I’d be willing to go over too.”
“Xiao Huai, are you going or not?”
I hung up, hurriedly shoved my feet into my slippers, and rushed into Xie Xu’s room, intending to ask him what was going on.
The moment I opened the door, Xie Xu was in the middle of changing.
He had nothing on his upper body, his perfect physique outlined flawlessly in the natural light.
He worked out regularly, so his figure was excellent, his abs sharply defined. When he saw me come in, his ears suddenly went red, and he turned away.
Awkwardly, I said, “Um, Xie Xu, I just got a message from Brother Jia. Was it you who put in a word with Nanchuan?”
“Mm.” He answered casually, then asked, “Xiao Huai, do you have any spare clothes?”
Xie Xu had always been a clean freak. He probably thought yesterday’s clothes smelled like alcohol.
With my back to him, I pointed at the wardrobe. “In there. Just grab whatever.”
Behind me, the faint rustling sounds of him changing clothes were about to drive me insane.
I coughed several times and tried to talk about something else to distract myself.
“Xie Xu, they specially issued that clarification to protect you before, and now they’re signing me too. When the time comes, our CP fans are going to rise from the ashes again.”
Xie Xu corrected me. “It’s called making a comeback.”
I scratched the back of my head. “Sorry. You know I was never good at studying back in high school.”
Xie Xu had already changed and walked up in front of me. “Xiao Huai, are you willing to come?”
His whole body carried the scent of the laundry detergent I knew so well.
All five of my senses were about to explode.
I held my breath. “Xie Xu.”
“Don’t stand so close to me.”
“Hm?” Xie Xu had both hands in his pockets as he lowered his head and looked at me.
He looked seriously punchable right now.
I had no idea how to explain it.
Was I supposed to tell him it was because of what happened last night?
Now, whenever he touched me, my mind would start wandering to all kinds of other things.
I took a step back. Who knew Xie Xu would actually follow me forward one step, getting even closer than before?
“Xiao Huai, you still haven’t answered what I said yesterday.”
I looked up in a panic. “What?”
His handsome eyes curved with a smile. “I said I want to be with you. Are you willing?”
