Forbidden Tenderness - Chapter 14
Back home.
I hurriedly locked the study door behind me, rummaging through the stack of documents like a thief in the night.
Ignoring the sound of the front door closing and the shuffle of shoes at the entrance.
“Pat-pat-pat…”
The footsteps grew closer.
I searched every cabinet until I spotted a book, pulled it out, and opened it. The documents were tucked inside.
At the same time, an old, yellowed photograph slipped out.
“Qi.”
The voice outside continued.
Jiang Mo was calling me.
And I had already seen the person in the photograph.
She looked to be in her early twenties, at an airport, wrapped in an expensive scarf, standing amidst the crowd, pure and beautiful.
I was momentarily stunned.
“Bang-bang-bang–”
Jiang Mo knocked on the door.
“Qi, it’s me.”
My gaze shifted to the scattered papers on the floor.
Page after page, line after line, all led to the same conclusion.
I clutched the papers as Jiang Mo pushed the door open, meeting my gaze.
His eyes were exceptionally clear.
I should have realized sooner.
“Qi.”
Jiang Mo walked in, and I stared at him, waving my hand to let the papers fall to the ground.
The same scene, the same moonlight, the same beginning.
But this time, the person emerging from the darkness was no longer the easily bullied blind boy.
“Qi, I’m not obedient anymore,” he said, gripping my chin, his gaze greedy and straightforward, “You said you wouldn’t replace me.”
In the study’s cabinet, besides the hospital certificate declaring Jiang Mo’s recovery, there were countless black contact lenses.
“The first time we had dinner, the man in the next booth was you.”
“Yes.”
“You were the one who hurt Ying Chen.”
“Mm.”
“You have a habit of following me.”
“Right.”
Jiang Mo was too honest.
I said one thing, he agreed with one thing.
“Qi,” he asked softly, “I’m disobedient, what will you do? Will you hate me for the sake of irrelevant people?”
“But if you hate me, can you really get rid of me?”
