Chapter 12
Jiang Mo didn’t enter the room until late at night.
I knocked on the study door, but there was no response.
So, I pushed the door open and went inside.
The room was empty, with only the open window and fluttering curtains.
A stack of documents lay on the desk.
I walked over, my fingertips slowly gliding across, wanting to open them.
Just as I saw the word “ophthalmology,” I heard a voice.
“Qi.”
Jiang Mo appeared somewhat out of breath, leaning against the door, still wearing that black outfit: “What are you doing here?”
I frowned: “Shouldn’t I be asking you? Where did you go? You ran off on your own again.”
“I… just went out for a walk.”
He slowly approached me.
It was already dark outside.
The moon hung high, casting silver-white moonlight.
With each step he took closer, everything became clearer.
“Qi.”
I was stunned.
Was it the moonlight?
The expression reflected in Jiang Mo’s eyes.
Staring straight and deeply at me.
I froze for a moment, unsure of where to place my hands, and simply moved them away from the stack of documents.
“What were you looking at?”
Jiang Mo gently curved a smile, tilting his head: “Were you waiting for me to sleep? I did come late.”
“You…”
I stared into his eyes.
Waved my hand in front of them.
His gaze didn’t shift at all.
I breathed a sigh of relief and spoke to him as if he were a disobedient child: “Why don’t you listen? Sneaking out alone while I’m working?”
Jiang Mo obediently lowered his head: “I was wrong.”
He continued to “stare” at me.
But inexplicably, it seemed he was in a good mood.
His lips curved, unable to relax.
I asked curiously: “What happened? Why are you in such a good mood?”
The little dog without eyes started to play coy: “It’s a secret.”
On the bed.
I asked the question that had been on my mind:
“What was your first love like?”
Jiang Mo didn’t stop moving.
I could feel him calmly “watching” me again.
With the lights off, all other senses became so sensitive.
“Why ask this?”
He leaned down, gently biting my neck: “Qi, ask something else at a time like this.”
I grasped his shoulders, our noses almost touching, and I looked seriously into his eyes.
Seeing nothing.
Just like how I felt about Jiang Mo.
Three years of marriage, he was well-behaved, gentle and kind, rarely showing any extra emotion.
I couldn’t check his phone, he wasn’t jealous or argumentative, didn’t care about my whereabouts.
As if he had no possessiveness towards me at all.
Perfect to the point of seeming fake, like he didn’t love me.
So I didn’t ask further, just silently bit him.
