- Chapter 64 - The Mid Laner’s Lapdog
By now, Lin Cheng’s Ahri had finished her core items.
She cleared the mid wave and studied the minimap.
“Jinye, come take the Rift Scuttler. Yan Ci, get ready. Their support might be roaming. We’re about to fight.”
The others answered together.
“Watch my position!” Jiang Si found an opening at dragon.
“Their AD has no Flash. We can kill!” Lin Cheng called decisively.
“Nice! Deleted.”
A perfect team fight: four kills, no deaths.
Wild7 rode the advantage to victory.
“We won! We won!”
Pei Jinye yanked off his headset, grabbed the Erdiandian drink on his desk, and took a huge gulp.
“From this day forward, I, Pei Jinye, do solemnly declare!”
“With this bitter cup, I pledge myself as mid lane’s loyal lapdog. Getting carried feels so fucking good.”
Laughter lit Lin Cheng’s eyes. Having her teammates trust and appreciate her felt wonderful.
The livestream chat scrolled on.
[Hahahaha Pei’s going full dog again!]
[Jinye: Being carried is true happiness!]
[Congratulations to Pei Jinye on finding his purpose in life: mid lane’s dog!]
[Well, the Wild7 hierarchy is crystal clear now. Lin Chen is Daddy!]
Wild7 were still celebrating when another match invitation popped up on their screens.
It was from Blaze.
Then a challenge from KA appeared in all-chat, bristling with wounded pride.
[Blaze-Ka: That didn’t count. One more. Loser posts on Weibo admitting they’re a noob. You in? @Wild7-Jiang]
Jiang Si frowned slightly. As captain, he disliked pointless contests of ego.
[Wild7-Jiang: It’s a scrim, not an official match. There’s no need for that.]
[Blaze-Ka: Fuck! Jiang Si, are you fucking scared? Is this all the guts Wild7 has? One win and you chicken out?]
Every face on the Wild7 side darkened.
Before Jiang Si could answer, Lin Cheng, who had been sitting quietly in the corner, suddenly took the microphone. Her clear voice rang through the voice channel.
“Captain KA.”
“If you can’t take a loss, don’t play. You don’t get to throw your weight around and question Wild7’s captain.”
The room went silent.
Pei Jinye’s eyes widened. Shi Yu covered his mouth in surprise. Even Yan Ci looked up from his phone.
Jiang Si turned toward her. Her ears were faintly red from defending him, yet her small face remained composed. His mouth curved before he realized it.
Like a wolf roaming a snowfield alone who suddenly saw a lamp lit just for him, he felt warmth pass through somewhere cold and deep.
He lightly pressed her shoulder, telling her she didn’t need to say any more.
Then he turned back to his screen.
[Wild7-Jiang: Fine. If you want to play, we’ll play. Wild7 will oblige.]
He paused, his delivery calm but commanding.
[Wild7-Jiang: As for the Weibo post, you’d better save that for yourselves.]
“Hahahaha! Si, you look pretty damn cool talking tough.”
Pei Jinye slapped the desk, roaring with laughter.
“Get them! Show them who their daddy is!”
The livestream chat went wild too.
[Holy shit, Lin Chen has BALLS. Defending his husband—sorry, captain!]
[KA’s mad mad mad! Can’t handle losing!]
[Jiang Si’s last line! “Save that for yourselves.” SO COOL.]
[Let’s go, Wild7! Destroy Blaze!]
[KA the noob! KA the noob!]
[Ten out of ten for defending your own. Did Captain Jiang just smile?]
[Wild7’s group dynamic is amazing. The rookie went straight for the other team to defend his captain!]
The second practice match was charged with hostility.
KA was clearly tilted. He snapped up a new champion, obviously intent on redeeming himself.
Lin Cheng answered with a pick that left everyone staring.
Teemo.
“Teemo mid?” Even Pei Jinye was stunned. “Daddy, are you serious?”
Lin Cheng gave a quiet “Mm.”
It was a difficult lane. She played extremely cautiously, farming safely under her turret.
KA’s Zed tried to force a kill several times, but she shut down each attempt. His impatience only let Pei Jinye arrive for a countergank and claim a kill instead.
KA was visibly growing more agitated.
In the midgame, both teams jockeyed for position around the Baron pit.
Then Lin Cheng activated Teleport, targeting the control ward she had sneaked into the brush near the enemy’s top-side base earlier.
“Teemo’s backdooring!” Blaze’s support cried.
“Recall! Get back now!” KA roared over voice chat, but Jiang Si and the others kept him tied up. He couldn’t get away.
The Blaze players were frantic.
On his stubby little legs, Lin Cheng’s Teemo waddled into their base.
With Blaze watching in despair, he delivered one last auto attack.
Boom.
Blaze’s Nexus exploded again.
“Victory!”
Cheers erupted in Wild7’s practice room. Pei Jinye threw an arm around Shi Yu beside him.
“We won! My daddy’s a genius! That Teemo backdoor was perfect!”
Chat had completely exploded.
[KA got played like a mangy dog.]
[That’s it, Blaze? All that hype, and you’re losing this badly before the real event even starts?]
[Trash like KA actually has fans? Bet his whole family’s a real prize.]
[Post on Weibo already, noob KA.]
[…]
In all-chat, KA lashed out too.
[Blaze-Ka: Backdooring dogs. Sneaky little shits. Is that all Wild7 can do?]
His graceless outburst infuriated the fans.
[Are you okay? If you can’t take losing, don’t play!]
[KA, my QQ Farm needs a guard dog. Start work tomorrow.]
[Please, Blaze. Try using your hands instead of your feet.]
[KA the noob! KA the noob! KA the noob!]
[The dirt’s nice and loose right now, KA. Go ahead and bury yourself.]
Lin Cheng watched the comments calmly and unmuted herself.
“Captain KA.”
“Now…” She paused, toying with her headset cable. “It’s time to keep your promise.”
[Blaze-Ka: Just you wait, Lin Chen!]
A few minutes later, KA updated his Weibo.
[Blaze-Ka: Some groups have nothing but cheap tricks. A noob? Ha. Just you fucking wait, Wild7. We’ll settle this in an official match.]
The post, utterly devoid of sportsmanship, was promptly cursed onto the trending list.

At Blaze’s base, not one computer in the gaming room had been spared. Every machine lay smashed to pieces.
“Lin Chen…”
Standing amid the wreckage, KA forced the name through his teeth. He took out his phone, his eyes vicious.
“Look into him. Lin Chen from Wild7. I want everything.”
A few minutes later came the response.
“Young Master KA, we checked. No real background. His family runs a modest business. Some money, but no influence. Nothing compared to us.”
