Disguised as a Man, She Has Eight Men Fighting Over Her - Chapter 65 - An Ambush
A cruel smile spread over KA’s face.
“Small-time businessman? No money, no power. Good.”
He looked at the blond member of his team.
“Tell Old Hu to find a few men and give him a little break. I want that gaming hand of his out of commission until after the match.”
The blond hesitated. “Young Master KA, the others in Wild7… their backgrounds are pretty mysterious too. They don’t look ordinary. Should we maybe—”
“Scared?” KA cut him off, slapping his cheek hard several times, his eyes contemptuous.
“So what if it’s Wild7? I’m only touching a little rookie with no backing. You think they’d fall out with my father over him?”
He sneered, his tone brutal.
“Just like you. If somebody got rid of you one day, I’d consider it the loss of one useless dog at most. Understand?”
The blond went white and fell silent.
KA withdrew his hand, arrogance written all over his face.
“Forget it…”
“This time, I’ll take back my pride myself.”
Grinning viciously, he looked over the rest of the team.
“Keep your fucking mouths shut,” he threatened. “If anyone can’t control their tongue…”
His face twisted as he raised a hand and drew it across his throat.
“Don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
The others hurriedly lowered their heads, avoiding his gaze.
KA slammed the door behind him.
The blond exhaled heavily and wiped cold sweat from his forehead.
“Fuck… That lunatic…”
A tall, thin teammate beside him still looked shaken.
“Young Master Huang, what did he mean just now? Would he really…?”
Young Master Huang raked a hand through his hair in frustration. “Remember that actor last year? Suddenly died—supposedly suicide? It trended for a few days, then everything disappeared. His family never said another word…”
Another teammate, silent until now, spoke with trembling lips.
“And—and the year before… That fairly famous singer. What was his name? He and KA were interested in the same young actor. Two days later, he vanished. An account with millions of followers, wiped clean overnight…”
A bleak helplessness hung in the air: the knowledge that they had no way to resist power like that.

Late at night, in Wild7’s villa, Lin Cheng tossed and turned in bed, sipping the sweet orange milk Shi Yu had given her.
“I really want instant noodles…”
She crept downstairs and felt for the light switch in the darkness. Then she turned—
“Ah!”
Lin Cheng flattened herself against the wall, pressing a hand to her pounding chest.
Someone had been sitting at the dining table in the dark, his back perfectly straight and the table before him completely empty.
“C-Captain?” She caught her breath. “What are you doing sitting here in the middle of the night without even eating anything?”
Jiang Si turned toward her, the tips of his ears faintly red. He asked hesitantly, “…Any instant noodles?”
Huh?
He was staying up in the middle of the night like a little wolf waiting to be fed… because he wanted noodles?
Lin Cheng’s lashes fluttered.
“Uh… We’re out.”
After a moment’s thought, she offered, “I’ll go to the supermarket. Wait here.”
She had changed her shoes and was about to leave when rustling sounded behind her.
Jiang Si followed her out. “Let’s go together.”
On the way back with their noodles and snacks, Jiang Si walked behind her, an unconscious softness in his eyes.
How many days had it been since they had spent time alone?
Even a road he had once considered long seemed too short now.
Lin Cheng suddenly stopped and turned around.
At once, Jiang Si concealed his feelings and resumed his cool, distant expression.
“Captain, were you waiting for me back there?”
He met her gaze calmly. “Mm.”
“Why didn’t you just ask me if you wanted noodles?”
He was silent for a moment. Then, in a low voice, “I was afraid you’d say no.”
Her smile brightened. “Why would I? We’re the only two in the group who crave this kind of junk food. Just message me next time.”
“Mm.”
A harsh light suddenly shone at them from the road ahead.
The car didn’t slow. A gust carrying the smell of gasoline and tires hit them, and Jiang Si yanked Lin Cheng toward him.
“Careful.”
Startled, she watched the car race past just centimeters away.
“Why are they driving that fast in the middle of the night?”
Jiang Si frowned slightly at the unfamiliar license plate.
A stalker fan?
He lowered his gaze and saw only the crown of her black hair and a pale earlobe peeking through loose strands.
But more pressing just now was the soft, warm, sweet-smelling body pressed flush against his thin clothes.
It had happened so suddenly that Lin Cheng had crashed straight into his arms.
Coming to her senses, she immediately tried to step back, only to discover that his arm was still curved protectively behind her waist.
His large hand held her firmly in place.
“…Captain?”
Embarrassed, she pushed at his chest.
His pecs were in pretty good shape. A little bigger than Shen Qingrang’s had felt that night…
“Captain, the car’s gone.”
Jiang Si snapped out of it and released her.
“Sorry.”
He took the bag from her hand and strode ahead.
He was getting close to losing control.
They had just entered the quiet lane behind the base, one following the other, when the same car appeared again.
It braked sharply across their path, cutting off the way forward.
Doors banged open. Four hostile-looking men, thick with muscle, jumped out.
One had a long scar beside his eye. He looked them up and down, then demanded coldly, “Which one’s Lin Chen?”
Before the words had faded, the passenger window lowered.
The man inside wore a cap that hid his face. Only his chilling voice was clear.
“Idiot. Was that lap around them for nothing? The short one.”
“Cut his wrist tendons.”
Jiang Si raised his eyes. Their usual coolness had turned razor-sharp, violence gathering in his expression.
“Get behind me.”
He turned to find Lin Cheng.
She was on tiptoe, carefully hanging a shopping bag from a tree branch.
He fell silent.
“Fuck! Shorty, you dare fucking ignore me?”
At the sight of her unconcerned manner, KA exploded inside the car, slamming a fist against the window.
“Get him, all of you! Break both his fucking hands!”
The four men surged forward with iron bars, surrounding them.
Lin Cheng slid forward like a leopard.
“Two each.”
She was already moving toward the two men on the left before she finished speaking.
Jiang Si’s outstretched hand didn’t even brush her clothes.
In an instant, the quiet lane filled with the sharp rush and dull thuds of blows landing on flesh.
Lin Cheng moved with slippery, practiced skill. Dodging a bar swung at her face, she stepped inside its arc, caught the attacker’s wrist with both hands, and twisted it down. The iron bar fell into her grasp.
“Give that back!”
She flicked her wrist. The bar seemed to come alive, meeting the other man’s weapon head-on.
Clang!
Using the impact to turn, she whipped the bar hard across his shin.
“Aaargh!” He collapsed with a scream.
Her eyes cold, Lin Cheng kept the bar moving and began a merciless beating.
“Chen, bro, don’t—don’t hit my face! I make my living off my looks!” The man covered his head and begged.
She paused, lifted his chin with the end of the bar, and inspected him.
“You’re ugly. It won’t hurt your livelihood.”
The bar came down again.
She was settling into a rhythm when a glance to the side made her realize, with a start, that Jiang Si was no longer where he had been.
