Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 7 - The Fiery Temper of A Beauty
“Get lost…” The usually mild and harmless Tang Jie now had a changed expression, his face cold as he stared at Zhu Nan, sharply spitting out two words.
“You…” Zhu Nan was frightened by Tang Jie’s glare, took a deep breath to bolster his courage, and harshly said, “You can’t leave.”
“You’re asking for a beating, blocking my way like this.” Tang Jie cursed like a thug, lifting his right foot and violently kicking towards Zhu Nan.
It was a simple kick that normally anyone could dodge, and Zhu Nan was no exception. But when he tried to move his feet,
he found that he couldn’t move his body at all. It seemed as if venomous snakes and fierce beasts surrounded him, sealing off any escape, and he could only watch helplessly as the kick landed on him.
Chen Shuran watched Zhu Nan lying motionless on the ground and then turned to look at the suddenly transformed Tang Jie, her eyes wide open, stunned for a long moment.
“Ah…”
Zhu Nan just watched as Tang Jie’s foot kicked him, immediately feeling a sharp pain in his abdomen, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
“Idiot, you thought everyone is as soft as you?” Tang Jie sneered, pulling Chen Shuran and heading straight out of the alley.
“You bastard, don’t… don’t let me see you again.” Zhu Nan, clutching his stomach, rolled on the ground trying to get up to stop Tang Jie, but found he couldn’t move…
“Stop, who are you?” A group of hoodlums standing outside the alley, keeping watch, saw Chen Shuran, who had just been taken in by Zhu Nan, now being led by a strange man. One of them shouted.
“Idiot, are you blind? I’m a friend of Young Master Zhu. He asked me to take this woman to a hotel. Are you trying to get yourself killed by stopping me?” Tang Jie retorted angrily at the hoodlum blocking his way, then, ignoring the stunned look on his face, pulled Chen Shuran through the crowd and walked away.
“Is he… really a friend of Young Master Zhu?” The hoodlum scolded by Tang Jie swallowed hard, looking bewildered.
“Damn, Young Master Zhu is still inside. Let’s go in and ask; it’s a pity that such a beauty isn’t for us,” one hoodlum cursed.
“Hey, relax, don’t we know Young Master Zhu well? Even if we don’t get a taste of this beauty, Young Master Zhu will take us to a nightclub later to pick a few beauties to play with. It’s all the same when it comes to playing with women,” said one hoodlum among the crowd.
“Yeah, Young Master Zhu is still inside. Let’s go check.”
And so, a dozen hoodlums walked into the dark alley, their minds filled with fantasies about which girl to choose for the night.
Not long after, the alley echoed with furious shouting as Zhu Nan cursed the ancestors of those young hoodlums in every possible way.
Tang Jie’s actions left Chen Shuran, who was following him, utterly astonished. She let him hold her hand, obediently following along, yet her eyes remained filled with curiosity as she stared at him. How could this person change so drastically?
Once they exited the dark alley and reached the bustling street, Tang Jie released Chen Shuran’s hand and turned to her, saying slowly, “Alright, you’re safe here. From now on, don’t go to the bar alone…”
With that, he turned to leave, but Chen Shuran called after him.
“Wait…”
Tang Jie stopped and looked back at Chen Shuran, puzzled. He wondered what she wanted. Was she going to thank him? Would she offer herself as repayment? If so, should he accept or accept?
Chen Shuran was unaware of Tang Jie’s musings. After stopping him, she said, “Th…thank you.”
Recalling the words she had spoken to him earlier that day at the school gate, Chen Shuran lowered her head, a look of guilt crossing her face.
As the young miss of the Chen Group, expressions of gratitude were rare for her growing up. Her pride was like that of a solitary phoenix, preferring loneliness to humbling herself before others.
However, this thank you was heartfelt. If it weren’t for Tang Jie’s help, she might have lost her innocence tonight. Although she liked to have fun, she was still an untouched young woman.
Every girl in her youth dreams of a fairy-tale arrival of her prince charming, imagining giving everything to him on their wedding night.
Chen Shuran was no exception. She was an eighteen-year-old girl, no different from others, except for that deep-seated pride.
“Uh…” For a moment, Tang Jie was at a loss for words, stammering without knowing what to say.
“My name is Chen Shuran, what’s yours?” Chen Shuran took a deep breath and asked softly.
“Tang Jie.” Tang Jie had actually known Chen Shuran’s name for a while and had planned to tell her his own, but her attitude during the day had left no room for that.
“You should go back now.” Tang Jie looked at Chen Shuran, remembering she must have driven herself since the trouble was already resolved. He needed to return to his apartment as well. After saying this, he turned to leave.
“Do you really find me that annoying?” Chen Shuran blurted out, biting her lip as she saw Tang Jie walking away. It was the most conflicted statement she had ever made.
“What’s wrong with me, to be interested in a bodyguard!” A voice inside her head exclaimed, leaving Chen Shuran utterly astonished.
“No, it’s just getting late. My mother always told me to be a good child and come home on time. Look, shouldn’t we go our separate ways and head home to our respective families?” Tang Jie, feeling awkward, could only come up with such a lame excuse.
“Old man, sorry, but you’ll have to reluctantly play the role of mom this time.” Tang Jie silently scorned himself. If the old man far away knew this young man was joking about him, he might rush over just to beat Tang Jie up.
“Then, then you take me home.” After saying this, Chen Shuran was again shocked by her own behavior. What was wrong with her today? Had she taken the wrong medication to suddenly feel… dependent on a new bodyguard? But then she remembered, since he was the one her father said would protect her, it was only natural for him to drive her home.
Realizing this, the embarrassment initially visible on Chen Shuran’s face quickly faded, and her heart settled down.
“Uh… alright.” Tang Jie thought for a moment and reluctantly nodded, adopting a look of moral integrity. He knew it was his duty, yet for some reason, he felt strangely awkward.
