Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 59 - Cohabitation Life Part 1
As the two were talking, Chen Shuran was walking down step by step from upstairs towards the living room.
“Shuran, come here, come here.”
“What’s the matter, Dad?” Chen Shuran looked at Tang Jie curiously and then turned to her father.
“Tonight, I’m going to have Tang move into your suite. He’ll stay in the bedroom across from yours to keep an eye on you. What do you think?” Chen Jiankai observed Chen Shuran’s expression as he spoke.
Unexpectedly, without a second thought, Chen Shuran said, “Sure, let’s have him move in tonight.”
“What? You want me to live with you?” Tang Jie’s words caused Uncle Zhao and Chen Jiankai to shake their heads helplessly nearby.
Tang Jie felt utterly frustrated. He initially thought Chen Shuran would be reluctant for him to move in, but unexpectedly, she agreed without hesitation. This left Tang Jie feeling extremely awkward.
However, since the girl wasn’t afraid, what could a big man like Tang Jie be afraid of?
With gritted teeth, Tang Jie slapped his thigh and said, “Fine, I agree. I’ll move in tonight.”
Evening quietly approached. Both Tang Jie and Chen Shuran had taken the day off, so neither attended school. After having lunch that day, Tang Jie hurried back to Blue Bay Apartment to grab a few pieces of clothing and some small items. Glancing around the empty room, he realized he hardly had anything, just a few sets of clothes and some small things he got from the old man during his cultivation.
Tang Jie looked out the window at the scenery, frowned slightly, gritted his teeth, grabbed his belongings, and ran towards Chen’s villa.
“Tang Jie, you really are living a hard life,” he cursed himself while running.
Half an hour later, Tang Jie stopped in front of Chen’s villa, where Chen Jiankai and Uncle Zhao were already sitting quietly in the living room. The days ahead would be difficult, as Tang Jie would have to deal with Chen Shuran’s antics while also finding a way to exchange pleasantries with Chen Jiankai.
He felt really exhausted, but it didn’t matter much. He thought about these things, and they weren’t particularly challenging. Besides, Tang Jie had been in such situations for a while now, so there was really nothing to be afraid of, right?
Upon entering the villa, Tang Jie recited the small talk he had prepared, which was just typical pleasantries.
However, upon hearing Tang Jie speak, Uncle Zhao and Chen Jiankai suddenly frowned and said, “I say, Tang, where did you learn these lines? I’m close friends with your master, so you don’t have to be so formal with me. If you keep it up, I might just get angry!”
Tang Jie shrugged helplessly; what else could he do if he didn’t want to be formal?
“Uncle Chen, Uncle Zhao, I won’t say much more. I’ll head upstairs to tidy up my room.”
“Alright, but Tang, living with my daughter means you have to put in some effort. I’m busy with work and rarely come home, so looking after her will be up to you from now on,” Chen Jiankai said, shaking his head helplessly.
Hearing this, Tang Jie patted his chest and said, “Don’t worry, Uncle Chen, I’ll take good care of the miss.”
At the same time, a hint of pride swelled within Tang Jie. He was indeed going to take good care of Chen Shuran, but without Chen Jiankai, he would find it much easier to do and say whatever he wanted. Deep down, he wished for Chen Jiankai to disappear quickly, but alas, this was their house.
As their cohabitation life progressed, after enduring the first day of discomfort, Tang Jie suddenly realized that he seemed to have developed a liking for this living arrangement. To begin with, he could walk around in a room filled with delightful scents every day.
Secondly, whenever he felt a particular craving, he could watch the beauty closely. Most importantly, after moving in, Tang Jie felt much happier.
A few days passed, and Uncle Zhao had gone out with Chen Jiankai and hadn’t returned since. During the day, Tang Jie accompanied Chen Shuran to school, and at night, they would play and tease each other at home.
When the night grew quiet, Tang Jie would meditate alone in his room. Time flew by; ever since he started using the second absorption cultivation method, he realized the speed at which his body absorbed the heaven and earth spiritual energy had suddenly increased several times, which astonished him.
Given the harvest from yesterday, as soon as Tang Jie entered the room, he stopped fooling around with Chen Shuran and sat down cross-legged to practice cultivation. After settling into his meditation for half an hour, a flickering light began to appear around him.
These little lights, as if they had found their master, swiftly penetrated into Tang Jie’s body, automatically circulating through his meridians in increasing numbers, growing larger and more substantial.
The heaven and earth spiritual energy gathered around Tang Jie like a frenzy, rapidly accumulating and causing his meridians to ache from the pressure.
Tang Jie abruptly stopped his cultivation and gasped for breath, overwhelmed.
“What the hell is going on?” he wondered, pulling out the text from the iron piece. It indeed described a method for rapidly absorbing heaven and earth spiritual energy, but the side effects were too severe-this energy was actually making his meridians hurt. Who would believe such a thing if he told them?
“Something’s off.” Tang Jie frowned as he realized that even though he had stopped his cultivation, his body continued to absorb the heaven and earth spiritual energy at an alarming rate.
“No…” Tang Jie felt sharp pains pulsating through his meridians, believing that his body could no longer handle it and was on the verge of exploding from the inside.
Quickly, he tried to circulate the spiritual energy within him to accelerate its flow and avoid a blockage, but he discovered that this only made the situation worse.
In response to Tang Jie’s attempts to manage the energy, the absorption rate surged exponentially.
Seeing this, Tang Jie could no longer endure the pain. He focused all his attention on the iron piece, finishing the text, but aside from the cultivation methods, it was still just more cultivation methods.
“Ah!” Tang Jie cried out in agony, and as soon as the sound escaped his lips, Chen Shuran rushed into the room, flinging open the door.
Upon entering, she saw Tang Jie rolling in pain on the bed. Frowning with concern, she quickly moved to help him sit up.
