Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 29
He stared at me, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, but said nothing.
I waited and waited for his answer. When it never came, I simply braced my hand against his back and leaned closer to him.
Under the dim light, his tightly pressed lips, his pale eyes, his long curled lashes-all carried an intense allure.
He tensed the corners of his mouth, visibly nervous.
A mischievous thought rose in me, but the next second, his index finger pressed against my forehead and gently pushed me away.
He said, “You’re drunk.”
He stood up, looking down at me from above. “Shen Pianpian, I can’t resist temptation.”
In my head, the mush was bubbling with countless tiny bubbles.
…
At 10:30, our gathering ended. Meng Ce walked me to the dormitory building. I stood at the entrance, saying goodbye to him.
He grabbed my hand.
“Shen Pianpian, are you sober now?”
I stared at him blankly, my brain completely unable to function.
“Forget it,” he said with a hint of helplessness. “I can’t hold back anymore.”
“Shen Pianpian, the first time I saw you wasn’t at B University, but at the intercollegiate debate competition last September.”
“You were the fourth speaker, single-handedly turning the tide and knocking our school’s debate team flat.”
“Back then, I thought, this girl is so fierce, so amazing, so confident, and so beautiful.”
“You were like a beam of light-confident, dazzling.”
“You asked if I like you?”
“I do.”
