Summary
On the day my master ascended, I saw a hook descend from the sky.
Disciples knelt on the stone steps all over the mountain, crying out as one:
“We bid our patriarch farewell as he joins the immortals!”
Only I saw the silver-white hook pierce his throat.
His feet left the ground. Inch by inch, he was dragged into the clouds.
His mouth was open, but no sound came out.
Like a fish.
Like a fish that had finally taken the bait.
