Chapter 8
Jiang Du turned his head.
He paused for a few seconds, then walked over, “Why don’t you wear a bit more?”
He raised his hand as if to take off his jacket, but his hand froze in mid-air, his expression stiffening.
It seemed he just remembered that he had already draped the jacket over Chen Yao.
I looked at him, “Jiang Du, you only have one jacket. If you give it to someone else, I won’t have one.”
Not just the jacket, the heart is singular too.
Jiang Du was silent for a moment, the uneven shadows from the streetlights falling on his prominent brow and nose, his face showing no trace of emotion, “You know everything.”
“I know you’ve been supporting Chen Yao for a year, and I know she’s pregnant.”
Looking at the familiar silhouette in front of me, my heart suddenly ached, “Congratulations, you’re finally going to be a father.”
Back when I was pregnant, Jiang Du loved to press his head against me, complaining in tone but his eyes were bright,
“Why is this little guy so restless?”
Later, when the child was gone, he seemed indifferent, but for several nights, I saw him wiping tears over the toys he had bought.
I always knew he loved children.
“Jiang Du, we once signed a prenuptial agreement. You’ve betrayed me, and you should leave with nothing.”
“Specific details will be discussed by my lawyer with you tomorrow. The company’s shares, the house, and the car, I won’t give you a penny.”
Jiang Du looked at me calmly, his eyes flickering with something I couldn’t understand,
“Su Nan, you say I betrayed you, but do you have any evidence?”
“Even if you recorded just now, all I did was drape a jacket over a colleague.”
“I can have Chen Yao come down for a face-to-face confrontation, there’s really nothing between us.”
He chuckled softly, speaking slowly, “Nannan, insufficient evidence. In court, I could accuse you of slander.”
Before I could react, my friend Zhao Jing couldn’t hold back, “Do you even hear the nonsense you’re saying?”
“You two, alone in a hotel room, if that’s not evidence, what is?”
“I am the evidence.”
Chen Yao suddenly appeared, or perhaps she had been observing from the side all along.
“I have recordings of our conversations from the past few days, and screen recordings of our WeChat chats. Even in court, I can testify.”
Jiang Du, after an initial hint of shock, quickly regained his composure, staring straight at her, “Why?”
After two seconds, he seemed to realize something, his gaze complex, “Just because I wouldn’t give you a title?”
“Yes.” Chen Yao was quite straightforward, “I’m just an ordinary woman wanting a normal, legitimate family. If you’re unwilling to divorce and can’t give me what I want, don’t blame me for teaming up with your wife.”
I walked over to Chen Yao, standing shoulder to shoulder with her, “Jiang Du, those who are too greedy never meet a good end.”
Jiang Du’s cold gaze swept over us a few times, finally landing on my face, something flickered in his eyes, but ultimately he said nothing.
