A Strange Transmigration Novel - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Using Shi Xu’s money, I hired a nanny and a chef.
Then, I spent my days idling around the house.
Every day, I posted short videos titled: “Because I look like the CEO’s White Moonlight, he gives me 300,000 yuan a month.”
Shi Xu didn’t have any short-video apps on his phone, and I made sure to keep my monthly salary figures vague. Even if the White Moonlight eventually returned, I could still make a living through social media.
Modern netizens aren’t just there for the drama; they’re also incredibly helpful.
“I’ve read no fewer than twenty ‘stand-in’ novels. Just say the word, and I’ll map out an escape route for you.”
“Can I apply to be your butler? I’m great at saying things like, ‘You look just like the person the CEO brought home last time.'”
I liked all of those comments.
After a few days of leisure, Shi Xu returned home one evening.
The first thing he said was, “You haven’t posted to your Friends circle lately.”
That was because now that I had money, I had no more worries. My mental state had improved so much that I couldn’t channel my old brand of crazy anymore.
Shi Xu looked at me. “Post something.”
Fine. This was part of my job description, after all.
With my back to him, I quietly set the visibility to ‘Only Him’ and posted a caption:
[On Wednesday, be a mistress. In traditional Chinese culture, the number three signifies the source of all things, the infinite… On this day, walk into someone else’s home and become the ‘third party,’ sharing joy with a married man.]
Then, I watched as Shi Xu’s fair face turned red, then green.
He gritted his teeth. “You are not a mistress.”
I asked, “Then what is this?”
Shi Xu pressed a hand to his forehead and reiterated, “A Follower.”
Once he started “following,” he became fierce, passionate, and reckless!
What a grand, uninhibited, and intense “following” it was!

Next, I diligently and blindly followed the plot.
A few of my former colleagues had apparently picked up the scripts for spiteful supporting characters, having occasional fits of madness on social media.
[Heh, women favored by the CEO really are different. She doesn’t even have to come to work anymore. Hypothetically speaking, could that chosen person really not have been me?]
[Does President Shi have to be so strict about gender?]
[He still doesn’t know the benefits of a man.]
When Shi Xu came home, I was reading these passive-aggressive posts that were only visible to me.
I was cackling like a hen.
His lips curled into a slight smile, and he reached out to pat my head.
I tilted my head, dodging him. “That costs extra!”
He expertly sent a transfer, then wantonly ruffled my hair.
The gentle, tragic-heroine-stand-in curls I had painstakingly styled were completely ruined.
Shi Xu sat down beside me and opened his laptop.
I exited WeChat and pulled up my study materials for my certifications.
Ever since I became Shi Xu’s “Follower,” he had become particularly fond of working from home.
He was making money.
And I, in between my bouts of acting crazy, was preparing for the CPA exam.
Life with money, free time, and a nanny was the perfect environment for getting certified.
Not to mention, I had Shi Xu’s one-on-one tutoring.
We both had bright futures ahead of us.
