Chapter 7
I froze in place.
I wanted to run, but feared he would notice something unusual.
I didn’t dare turn around, lest I be recognized.
Seeing me standing still, he had already walked over from behind.
Step by step, like the Grim Reaper approaching.
It’s over.
I was pondering how to respond when suddenly someone called out to him.
“Mu? Where are my flowers?”
“At the door.”
“What are you doing outside? Hurry up, it’s time to cut the cake.”
After the girl spoke, I heard a child inside shouting loudly, “Daddy, come quickly, I want to eat cake!”
Once they went inside, after a while, I quietly peeked through the backyard fence and saw the scene in the hall clearly.
There seemed to be a birthday party going on inside, with many people.
In the crowd, I saw Shen Sirong.
Her makeup was exquisite, and she was holding a piece of cake, handing it to Li Zemu.
Beside her was a little boy, about two or three years old.
That boy looked very much like Li Zemu.
Indeed, they got married and had a child.
I smiled and turned to leave.
After a few moments of tension, I realized my worries were unnecessary.
Li Zemu didn’t appear in front of me.
Nor did anyone from the Li Family.
He probably didn’t recognize me.
Which is good, we were never meant to be part of the same world.
Meanwhile, orders at the shop suddenly surged.
After dropping off An’an, I had been busy since early morning.
Even by four or five in the afternoon, I still hadn’t finished.
Helpless, I had to call the teacher.
“Teacher Chen, could you please bring An’an to my shop? I can’t leave right now.”
An’an’s kindergarten teacher lived in the same neighborhood as us, and several times before when I had urgent matters, I asked her for help.
Unexpectedly, on the phone, she asked puzzledly, “Wasn’t An’an picked up by her father?”
Father?
A strong sense of unease rose in my heart.
Could it be Li Zemu?
I hurried to the kindergarten.
Upon arrival, Teacher Chen told me that a man had come to pick up An’an, claiming to be my husband, An’an’s father.
She intended to call me to confirm, but my phone was unreachable.
The man not only looked remarkably like An’an but also showed a marriage certificate.
Thus, An’an was taken away.
After watching the surveillance footage, the video indeed showed Li Zemu.
I immediately reported to the police.
While the police were trying to contact Li Zemu, I received a photo.
In the picture, An’an was sitting at the doorstep, eating a lollipop.
At the same time, there was a text message.
[Xia Wanlv, come home.]
