Chapter 8
I hurried back to the neighborhood.
At the entrance of the building, more than a dozen men in black stood in a row.
The neighbors around, climbing the stairs in fear, whispered among themselves.
“What’s going on? Are those gangsters here to collect a debt?”
“Did anyone contact property management? Should we call the police?”
“They said they’re here looking for their wife and kid.”
“Oh, which young couple is it?”
I didn’t dare say they were here for me, and rushed straight up to the third floor.
Just as I reached the door, I saw An’an sitting in a children’s mini sports car, holding a tablet and seriously watching cartoons.
“An’an–”
Before I could finish the sentence, someone hugged me tightly from behind.

He sneered, “You’re finally willing to come back?”
My heart trembled.
Ignoring him, I hurried to take An’an into my arms.
“Young Master Li, please let go.”
He raised his eyebrows, his hands unmoving.
“And what if I don’t?”
“Then I’ll call the police.”
Luckily, I’d saved the police officer’s contact today.
Li Zemu chuckled softly, as if he’d just heard a joke.
“Go ahead, call them.
“What are you going to tell the police? Isn’t it legal for a father to visit his own daughter?”
He knows?
My face went pale, and I quickly retorted, “Nonsense, she’s not your daughter.”
“Oh? Want me to show you the paternity test right now?”
It’s over.
He came prepared.
Of course, with his power, it would be all too easy to uncover An’an’s parentage.
Caught in a standoff, An’an, sucking on a lollipop, looked at me with wide eyes and asked, “Mommy, this handsome uncle says he’s my daddy, but didn’t you say my daddy was dead?”
“……”
