Chapter 19
My father was about to lunge at me again, but the arriving police intervened.
His hands were twisted behind his back as he hurled curses at me:
“You ungrateful daughter! Bitch!”
I ignored him and turned to the police.
I tilted my head, showing my swollen cheek and the dried blood at the corner of my lip:
“He suddenly barged into my company and started hitting people. There’s surveillance footage of the entire incident. I’m feeling dizzy and nauseous now, suspecting a concussion, and I need to go to the hospital for further examination.”
The police took my father away.
Throughout the entire process, Julian Thorne stood nearby, watching me with a peculiar gleam in his eyes.
“Victoria, have you ever thought…”
He suddenly spoke,
“That we might not need to get divorced?”
I looked at him expressionlessly.
“Victoria, I truly regret it.”
“Now that the Sterling Group is already in your grasp, we can completely discuss an equal partnership.”
“We’ve been married for four years, and you were always so good to me before. Wasn’t it because you had some feelings for me too?”
“I underestimated you before because the rumors about you were quite unpleasant. And when you first approached me, you seemed so submissive. I didn’t know–”
He looked at me with what seemed like deep affection.
“Didn’t know what?”
I abruptly interrupted him, “Didn’t know that you’re actually despicable? A few days ago, you flaunted your affair in front of me, and today, realizing I’m not as isolated and helpless as you thought, you’re interested again?”
“Or is it… losing that trade contract has severely impacted the Thorne Group, and Mr. Thorne is forced to swallow his pride and come to me, hoping to get a piece of the pie?”
Julian’s expression turned cold in an instant.
I twirled the pen in my hand, looking at him with interest:
“Now that the contract is in my hands, what qualifications do you have to discuss an equal partnership with me?”
“Why not kneel down now, say something nice, and beg me properly? Perhaps I might actually agree.”
Julian looked utterly humiliated.
“If there’s nothing else, Mr. Thorne, please leave.”
I nodded politely at him,
“Sign the divorce agreement and send it to me.”
“And Mr. Thorne, don’t think of using any tricks. I’ve stayed with the Thorne Family for four years, and I do have some evidence in my hands. It’s better to keep things dignified.”
