Chapter 3
Xie Yun spent ten taels of silver to buy my silence.
When it was time to eat, I hurled a stone in Xie Yun’s direction.
Xie Yun opened his eyes and looked at me.
“Eat.”
I poked at the sweet potatoes in the fire.
In the dim night, sparks flew.
A sweet potato, carried by the embers, flew toward Xie Yun.
I quickly grabbed an arrow from beside me.
Everything happened in an instant.
I heard the sound of an arrow sinking into flesh.
With a thud, a corpse crashed down beside Xie Yun.
Blood splattered across his face.
Dressed in blue, Xie Yun stood in the night, his jade-like handsome face stained with blood.
He truly looked like a Mandala Flower, tainted with blood and come to life.
I couldn’t help myself-I whistled at him.
Xie Yun took out a handkerchief and carefully wiped the blood from his face, bit by bit.
I walked over, pulled out my arrow, and glanced at the corpse.
“This job isn’t easy,” I muttered to myself. “That was a seasoned fighter, lying in wait in the tree for half an hour just to deliver a fatal blow to you. It’s only been three days since we set out, and we’re already running into things like this. Can we really make it safely to Qingzhou?”
Xie Yun tossed the bloodied handkerchief into the fire and said calmly, “I’ll pay more.”
