To Forgive or Not to Forgive - Chapter 14
After entering the room, I packed some necessary belongings.
He blocked the doorway:
“Do you really have to leave?”
I nodded:
“Yes.”
He stepped outside the room:
“I’ll go out. It’s too late now. Not safe.”
When I opened the door in the morning, he was waiting at the entrance.
“I’ll go to the office with you.”
I spoke:
“No need.
“What happened yesterday, the impact wasn’t good.
“I hope you can clarify things.”
When I got to the office entrance, he was there too.
I walked around to the parking lot and took the elevator upstairs.
In the restroom, I heard people talking-what happened yesterday had caused such a stir; it was truly explosive.
Fortunately, I was about to resign anyway.
Some colleagues I got along well with offered comfort and advice.
Chen Jianjin walked into the office, took my hand:
“Come home.
“Zhou Sining is my sister-in-law.”
I shook him off and said:
“It’s true that we were together, but we’ve already broken up.”
Standing in the hallway, his eyes were slightly red:
“I don’t agree to break up.”
I met his gaze and asked, word by word:
“Chen Jianjin, you never wanted to make our relationship public in front of colleagues, but you were willing to take me home.
“Was it actually because you’ve been secretly in love with your own sister-in-law, and your parents are pushing you to get married, isn’t that right?”
His thin lips parted and closed, a few words slipping from his throat:
“Yes, but…”
I didn’t listen to his explanation. There was no need.
