Summary
In the third year after he locked me in the basement and kept me as a stand-in, the woman he’d always pined for came back.
At the banquet, that woman splashed a glass of wine across my face. Her expression was mocking, but her lips formed two words:
“Run. Now.”
Later, I ran.
But she died.
He found me with almost no effort at all, his gaze dark and unreadable.
“Come back, darling.
“I won’t let you suffer any more grievances.”
