Chapter 10
In the summer, the night takes a long time to fall.
I wiped my hands with a wet tissue.
Met a cold, piercing gaze.
“Will the catching up take long?”
“I don’t know, maybe I won’t come back tonight.”
He said, “Mm, after dinner, you’d better go watch a movie, stroll around the mall, visit a flower shop…”
I nodded, “How did you know? I was planning to give him a bouquet, to congratulate him on getting into Beijing.”
He was in an unusually good mood.
“It’s getting dark. I’ll have the driver take you.”
“No need, no need, I have my little scooter, I’ll give him a ride.”
He smiled in a way that was a little unnerving, “Make sure he sits tight, holds onto you. Otherwise, like last time, I took quite a nasty fall.”
That time was obviously because the road was slippery from the rain.
“I’ll remind him.”
Yan Chen pressed his cheek, half-smiling, half-not.
“I recommend you take him to Shengda Plaza on Meizi South Road.”
That was a Yan Family property.
“Alright, I’ll take him to support the family business.”
Though it’s just a drop in the ocean.
Yan Chen narrowed his eyes slightly, “Mm, it’s close to the hospital, easy for emergency rescue.”
I was a bit puzzled.
He continued, “No other reason, life isn’t always smooth sailing. Who knows, cars come, cars go, bang…”
He made a lackadaisical gesture, like fireworks exploding.
“Oh right, tell him when he sleeps, to have his eyes take turns standing guard.”
Why does it feel like he’s got some mental issues too?
Back when Yan Chen’s father hadn’t passed away yet.
He was even worse than now.
Forget it, not having any problems would be the real problem.
I waved my hand, “Yan Chen, I’m off.”
Tiptoed down the stairs.
The Yan Family estate was vast.
Had to walk through a wooded path before reaching the main road to catch a cab.
