The Perfect Plot of My Brother - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
In the original plot, Meng Yunchuan was nothing more than cannon fodder.
His background was described in only a few brief, sketchy strokes. His sole purpose in the story was to target the antagonist during the latter’s time of hardship.
His malice seemed to spring from nowhere, but now, I feel there’s a clear trail to follow.
Perhaps some people are just like that.
They aren’t born with a bad nature, but once their parents label them as a “bad kid,” they simply give up on themselves.
They think-
*Fine, since none of you believe me anyway.*
*I might as well make the charges real.*
But what if, when things go wrong, we stand firmly behind him?
Would things turn out differently then?
With this thought in mind, I looked calmly at the teachers present. “Teacher, there’s more than one segment of surveillance footage. Why not watch the whole thing? Looking at just these few minutes might not show the truth.”
Perhaps not expecting me to say this, my parents’ expressions shifted slightly.
My mother was the first to snap out of it. She glanced at my brother hesitantly before finally saying, “Yes, we should probably watch the entire recording.”
Even if the full footage existed, there was no way Xu Ye would let it be shown.
For a moment, the atmosphere became extremely awkward.
Xu Ye’s father, however, was convinced his son had been bullied. He shouted that he was going to fetch the footage right then and told us to wait.
As they were leaving the office, Xu Ye’s face turned visibly pale.
He shot me a vicious glare, but my brother stepped in to block his view.
My brother rolled his eyes and snapped, “You dare glare at my sister? Careful, or I really will give you a thrashing!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle.
In the end, the matter was simply dropped.
Presumably, the Xu family watched the full footage and never returned to the school. The school’s official conclusion was that it had all been a misunderstanding.
Not long after the incident, Xu Ye transferred schools.
I didn’t pay it much mind, but I did ask my brother later what exactly had happened that day.
My brother said he had finished school early and noticed Xu Ye acting strange. Fearing something might happen to him, he followed. He saw Xu Ye being surrounded by a group of people and naturally went over to help him out. He never expected that the very next day, Xu Ye would insist that he was the one who had sent those people.
It wasn’t hard to guess what happened: Xu Ye’s parents must have discovered his injuries. Too afraid to admit he was being bullied by those people, he dragged Meng Yunchuan down with him as a scapegoat.
“Anyway, let’s not talk about that. Look, Sis, do you like it?!”
Suddenly, the boy’s bright, cheerful voice broke into my thoughts.
I turned my head to see Meng Yunchuan flourishing a dress from behind his back like a magic trick!
It was a pink and white dress, delicate and beautiful.
It also looked very expensive.
I was stunned. “Brother, what is this?”
My brother gave a proud smirk. “Hehe, when I went out to buy you ice cream before, I ran into some girls from your class. They were all wearing pretty dresses and saying you usually dress like a tomboy. What a joke! How could my sister not have one? Hmph, you’re going to have the best one!”
“Besides, you’re about to graduate from elementary school. You should wear it then!”
I stared silently at the boy speaking so animatedly, a wave of warmth surging in my heart.
No wonder.
Lately, he hadn’t been buying any snacks. He’d been clutching his piggy bank every day, looking both reluctant and indignant.
So he was actually saving his money to buy me a dress?
“Aww-”
I suddenly lunged at him, giving him a hug. My brother was startled, but his reflexes were quick enough to catch me. His hands hovered in the air for a moment, unsure of where to go, and his handsome face turned slightly red. After a long pause, he finally rested his hands on my back and cleared his throat. “Like I said, as long as your brother is here, I won’t let you suffer a single grievance!”
I gave a soft hum and said sincerely, “Thank you, Brother.”
My brother accepted the thanks with a touch of arrogance.
After a long silence, I suddenly heard him whisper, “I should thank you too.”
His voice was so quiet that by the time I looked up at him, he had already turned his head away as if he hadn’t said a word.
A smile tugged at the corners of my eyes.
Sigh.
What am I supposed to do with a brother who cares so much about saving face?
I guess I’ll just have to spoil him myself.
