The Perfect Plot of My Brother - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Meng Yunchuan had never learned how to dress a wound. He squatted by my leg, reaching out with his small hands, wanting to cover the bleeding cut but not quite daring to. Seeing the blood snake down my fair calf and onto the floor, he grew even more flustered, muttering incessantly, “It’s okay, little sister. It’s okay, it’s okay!”
After hesitating for a long moment, he finally couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up abruptly and said to me, “Little sister, big brother is going out for a second!”
With that, he dashed out like a whirlwind.
Me: “??”
What was he doing?
Before I could react, I heard the boy’s piercing, loud voice: “Help! My sister is dying!”
“Is there anyone who can save her!”
“Someone, come quickly!”
Listening closely, the boy’s voice was thick with tears.
I wondered if he was crying his eyes out while shouting.
My heart stirred slightly, but when I clearly heard what he was yelling, my vision went dark. I wished I could just drop dead on the spot.
I mean, I just scratched my skin a bit; it’s not like I’m about to kick the bucket!
But my brother had a loud voice, and his shouting made the neighbors think something major had happened. It was right around dinner time, so Auntie Qin from next door dropped her spatula and ran out. She grabbed my brother, who was pacing and shouting like an ant on a hot pan: “Chuan, what happened?!”
Seeing someone come out, my brother calmly wiped his tears and hurriedly pulled Auntie Qin into the house. He pointed at me, standing frozen in place, and said urgently, “Auntie, my sister is bleeding so much!”
By the time he had called for help, the blood had already started to clot.
Although it looked a bit scary, it actually wasn’t serious.
Auntie Qin found the first aid kit, treated my wound, and helped clean up the broken porcelain on the floor. Before leaving, she warned me not to let the wound touch water.
My brother nodded like a woodpecker.
Once Auntie Qin was sent off, my brother doubled back and pulled some snacks out of his room for me, saying generously, “Here, sister, eat!”
As he spoke, his voice was still thick with a nasal quality from crying.
I looked closely at his red eyes. Had he really been that scared?
Thinking this, I instinctively tried to comfort him. “Brother, I’m fine. Don’t cry.”
At those words, Meng Yunchuan’s movement-stealthily glancing at my calf-stiffened. He clearly became awkward, his little face turning bright red as he stiffened his neck and said, “I wasn’t crying! It’s just windy outside!!”
My eyebrows twitched as I looked at his stubborn little expression. “…”
Sure, sure.
It’s windy outside.
Whatever my brother says goes.
That night, my parents also found out about the incident. They patiently taught Meng Yunchuan that he couldn’t just reach in and grab things after heating them in the microwave; he needed to wear heat-resistant gloves.
Meng Yunchuan listened with a serious face and vowed that it was “so easy!”
He guaranteed he would complete the task perfectly tomorrow!
But unfortunately, he didn’t get a chance to show off.
Because I was going back to kindergarten.
Originally, because we were supposed to stay at a relative’s house, my parents had told the principal about transferring schools, and the paperwork was almost done. Now that we weren’t transferring, my parents went specifically after work to fix the paperwork so I could return to kindergarten the next day.
Upon hearing the news, my brother was incredibly depressed. He stomped his feet in frustration behind their backs, but there was nothing he could do.
I thought he had finally given up on this chance to perform, but I was wrong.
The next morning.
When I woke up, I immediately saw a small figure in the kitchen wearing heat-resistant gloves, taking warmed milk out of the microwave.
Even though he was only in first grade, the young boy was acting composed, like a little adult.
Seeing me, he waved and called out happily, “Sister, come quickly and drink your milk!”
When my parents got up and saw this scene, they were amused and praised him, “Big brother is so good to his little sister.”
The corners of my brother’s mouth immediately curled up before he pressed them back down, saying calmly, “I’m the big brother! Being good to my sister is what I’m supposed to do!”
Seeing this, my parents looked at each other and burst out laughing.
My brother’s face turned a bit red from the laughter, but he joined in with a silly grin.
Outside the window, the morning light shone on the faces of the three of them. In front of them was a striped dining table set with milk cups and steaming noodles. Nearby, a few rabbit and bear plushies lay scattered on the fabric sofa. It was a mess, but an orderly one. Time seemed to freeze at this moment, painting a warm picture of a family.
I watched my family quietly. Thinking about the end of the original plot, where my parents were worried sick because of my brother-their hair turning white prematurely and their faces full of exhaustion-a thought suddenly surged in my heart.
I don’t want it to be like that.
I want my whole family to be well.
